Looks like Eurovision 2009 is going to be another absolute ball!

re: 'Phantom Of The Eurovision'

ARGH!! Can't watch this! It says "Not available in my area"
aka another country... bloody BBC!
I once heard someone describe her (Ruthie Henshall) singing as sounding as though she's trying to swallow a whole meatball slightly larger than her windpipe. (The same person compared Michael Ball's singing to sounding as though he's sitting on a washing machine on spin cycle and Colm Wilkinson's to a man with a paralyzed lip trying to eat cottage cheese.) --- Schmerg_The_Impaler

Maybe if you swear like a Brit you'll confuse the site into thinking you live there!

re: 'Phantom Of The Eurovision'

The broadcast was very funny indeed! And made better at the time because that there was to be a broadcast was announced with such deadpan seriousness as well.

But although Eurovision is a bad joke, it would be nice to at least have an entry that is not so excruciatingly dreadful that one can't watch.

And for once, a certain degree of public participation is not so entirely inappropriate. It is just that in recent years ALL the options have been awful. What is less than impressive about this latest effort (if I have it right) is that the collection of potential performers this year will get picked from videos sent in. So another motley crew of inappropriates is on the cards. Look who they picked last year, and that was with some level of choice!

It's quite sweet that someone with such a terrible face likes being on telly so much. It's like one Jim'll Fix It I saw where they sent this kid with no legs to go to Leeds United and kick a ball about the pitch on his pretend legs.

I am, however, a little pissed off that we're not going to have proper heats.

re: 'Phantom Of The Eurovision'

but arn't they bring back the old style voting back from years ago in an attempt to get fairness back in the much rigged voting?

re: 'Phantom Of The Eurovision'

Didn't they move from jury voting to public voting (when that became feasible), in part to try to get away from the political voting in the first place?

Oh I don't know. As long as there's something I can laugh at while drinking my Southern Comfort, I'll be happy.

re: 'Phantom Of The Eurovision'

Well if it means we won't get another bloody reality West End casting show, I'm keen!

Ok, found it on youtube... my gawd! It almost made it seem like Bin Laden was going to take over the UK or something!
He was really compassionate, more than McCain... Lord Andy for President 2008!!

re: 'Phantom Of The Eurovision'

i don't mind the 'auddtion' prosees being open to the public, at the end of the day talent is talent, and i gess it's a good platform for new talent, it just the whole reality tv thing, it makes every thing so...ummm...i dunno...is degradeing the right word? And i'm not always shure 'the public' makes the right destion

sorry for bad spelling :)

re: 'Phantom Of The Eurovision'

Very strong possibility now of Tim Rice collaborating with Lloyd Webber for the number.
They have penned a song for Eurovison before, back in 1967. It was called 'Try It And See', it wasn't very successful but went onto be part of Herods Song in their soon to be hit, 'Jesus Christ Superstar'.

re: 'Phantom Of The Eurovision'

Well it can't be any worse than the sh~t we usually put up (Jemini and Andy Abrhams?! I had to google to find out who they are/were!).

Though I'm still quite upset that we didn't send a heavily pregnant baby-pink-lyrca-clad Jordan along a few years ago...
