So, I have free tix to the Seattle opening of Phantom this Friday. Not so thrilled about it, but going because I've had theatre withdrawal lately and haven't seen the show since the early 90's...Am I in for a world of pain or is the cast pretty good?

Saw the tour during it's stop in Sacramento a few months ago and loved it. I've always liked the show a lot, but the production is in top form on tour.

Pluss the 3 main cast members are new (both Christines and the Phantom) so it should be quite good.

Judging from when we went to school together, Trista Moldovan will be an amazing Christine. I hope that they will bring her to the Broadway production at some point, or that my own schedule puts me somewhere near the tour while she's still singing the role.
I am disappointed it didn't extend for another week here in SF. I was so busy for the holidays that I missed it.
Where is the tour headed now?
I have seen the Vegas version but it would have been nice to see the full lenght version.

Saw it in August and thought it was fine, though the cast has changed since then. My only complaint was the sound design being very quiet, even from the sixth row, and sounding as if everyone was singing through a tin can, but it could have just been the acoustics of the venue.

Antonijan... it didn't extend because (rarely) do tours ACTUALLY extend. Sure, they (particularly SHN) like to advertise an "extension by popular demand," but that's just clever advertising. Here's what I mean: a show gets booked a year or two in advance, so there's NO room in most cases for a real extension. SO, a presenter (lets say SHN since you're talking San Francisco) books a show for 8 weeks, but INITIALLY only advertises and sells for 6 and then they put the last 2 weeks on sale and say 'EXTENDED!' as a way to get extra publicity for the show. It's all a marketting ploy usually. PHANTOM was already booked into it's next city a long time ago.
And to reply to the original question, I just saw the tour in SF and thought it in great shape, but also thought it was rather "quiet" compared to other theatres, but that could be the accustics at the Orpheum.
Side note: Just saw the Vegas version. Design, and staging was truly spectacular, but for my buck I'd rather see the WHOLE show.
The tour cast is fine. Trista Moldovan is rather boring, though, and her voice is too mature for the part. I never saw John Cudia since he was out for quite a while in SF, but Andrew Varela was excellent and Thomas Schumacher was overwrought and whiny.
It will be in Denver at the Buell from Feb. 22nd through March 25th.
Saw the tour in San Francisco and wished I had the chance to see it again. It is in excellent shape and the actors do enjoy themselves and present a wonderful evening.
This tour reminded me of a "classic" version of the show - there were no added flourishes, etc. Just a show done straight and with heart. It was weird after seeing it with various character touches by different actors through the years. It was also nice to hear a Raoul who sounded like a Raoul, versus sounding like a Phantom understudy.
Enjoy the show.

The tour is currently taking a few weeks off before moving into the Pantages in LA.
The 3NT is near to my heart. It was the first production I ever saw of the show, and I have seen the particular production 5 times.
The production is beautiful, and has really wonderful cast members. I haven't seen it since 2006, but many of the supporting cast is still the same.
I passed by the Orpheum yesterday and they have been moving stuff out...
Wonder if any memorabillia got tossed out :P

It's not closing, so why would anything be thrown out?
This is Anton's logic we're talking about here.

I need an Phantom Playbill from Orpheum. Anybody have extras?

TheatreDiva, did you work on the tour, or one of the sitdowns? That's unfortunate that the behind the scenes was less than desirable working conditions.
