re: Phantom of the Opera movie coming this Christmas!!!

How can you say that? You can't say that. The movie might have a lot more dialogue and a lot less singing. Trust me ... they're gonna butcher it. I'd be surprised if they didn't. We already know Masquerade is just instrumental ... so one of the best songs is already out ... what next?

re: Phantom of the Opera movie coming this Christmas!!!

i'm sorry but they did us a favor by making Masquerade an instrumental...that has to be one of the most obnoxious songs that AWL ever composed in my opinion along with that damned Jellicle song from "CATS"

Mas-que-raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaade!!!...ugh!

sure, but now when the Phantom reprises the song at the end with his "Masquerade... paper faces on parade... hide your face so the world will never find you..." the line becomes shtick... IF it's even still there...

u do bring up a valid point CATS, never thought of that..but the thought of being in a movie theatre and having to hear all the sopranos in the chorus singing "Mas-que-raaaaaaaaaaaaaaade!!!!" in DTS 5.1 Sound scares the living heck outta me

LOL Eponine....Mascarade? Brings to mind a bunch of drag queens descending a huge staircase singing at the top of their lungs:

Mas-ca-ra-raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaade!!!

FYI:

I retract my earlier post. I was mis-informed. Minnie Driver is completely dubbed in the film version of "POTO". Which makes me wonder they didn't just hire someone who could do their own singing. Also leads me to believe that she may not be the only one being vocally "helped" in this movie.

Um.......in the trailer there is a moment where two women are looking at the camera and you can tell they are singing and it looks just like MASQUERADE from the stage version. Are you sure it is just intrumental?

And I will be singing right along with them.

PAPER FACES ON PARADE
MASQUERADE
HIDE YOUR FACE
SO THE WORLD WILL NEVER FIND YOU

re: Phantom of the Opera movie coming this Christmas!!!

I don't know if it really is or not. It was just an observation

Regarding the sound clip of Patrick Wilson and Emmy Rossum singing AIAOY, the "rumor" circulating on the Phan messageboards is that an RUG "insider" leaked that ALW brought the audition tape and not a soundtrack excerpt with him by mistake...

A senior moment? Testing the Waters? "Damage Control"?????

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

I don't know if that is true or not, but the production quality of that clip was crappy. Movie soundtracks are usually IN YOUR FACE with instrumental and vocals. That just seemed like it was done as a karaoke with pre-recorded instrumentals. I really hope this rumor is true
