Well, at least it won't be Cats anymore.
'Phantom' to Become the Longest-Running Broadway Show
I wonder how long once it is off it will take phantom to be beaten...and how much longer it is going to be on broadway.

yeah, i hope the disney shows dont beat it for longest running...
but phantom is doing pretty well, so it should still run awhile longer!
Phantom isn't going anywhere soon. It'll hold that record for a while. Hopefully Beauty and the Beast will die off soon. Lion King has been at almost 100 percent for almost 10 years, so I imagine it holds the only threat to Phantom, that is, if it closes.
I bet Lion King and Wicked will both eventually give it a run for its money. There is nothing in either of those two shows that will "date" the material in a decade or so.
Don't know whether they'll beat Phantom or not. That will also depend on the "state of Broadway" in the coming years (aka what else is out there?).

ITW revival will probably beat it.
Bye, bye Cats...

CATS, you have met your match.
Thank you, Phantom.
BRAVO
Congrats. Phantom.
What show is "ITW"
Lol, it is probobly something really obvious ab i am having a brain burp...but what is it?
Into The Woods I think.
Does anyone have their Phantom tickets yet for the historice January 9th performance?
I dont think they are available to the public are they?
And they are making another into the woods revival?
Wickedfreak: No.
Hooray for PHANTOM! This is the show that got me into Broadway. I saw it twice! I'm proud it isn't going to be CATS any more. I saw the video for CATS, and it was pathetic. Let's plan a virtual party for the occasion!
Ahh finally! Well the only thing is that it won't be that much fun for Webber because Phantom and Cats are both his shows!

YAY PHANTOM!! What a great show, it's waaay up there in my top 3 (along with Rent, my number one, and... I dunno what else. ). I wanna see it on the 9th SO badly, because its about a week from my birthday, but apparantly they're having some invitation only gala. So unfortunate! Oh well, maybe I'll go on the 8th or 10th.

The Jan 9th performance isn't open to the public. I'm actually going to the Jan 7th show which will tie the record. Got tickets a few months ago actually. (Orch. Center Row M Center, quite excited)
Would kill to get there for the 9th. I have a feeling they'll be opening up some kind of raffle for fans or something. keeping my fingers crossed for that.
But good for Phantom. My personal favorite, and I believe most would agree its more deserving than Cats...

I'm going on the 10th. 2nd row center for $50. Can't beat that!
i don't mean to be rude or anything...don't take this the wrong way. but isn't this really old news? i remember articles about it from months ago.
i'm sure there's old threads too.
that said. yay phantom. i wish i could be there. i'm sure it's going to be an event to remember. way to go ALW.
I prefer Phantom, but why do you all hate Cats? I think it has some fantastic music and is a lot of fun.
I'm going on the 9th! I'm so psyched.

I wonder if this show will ever close...
It needs to close so RENT can become the longest running show.
Well, one can dream.
