"Does Gerard's Scottish accent show through or did they even bother trying to cover it up?"
Rose said she didn't even know Gerry had an accent intil someone mentioned it. So...no...his accent wasn't in the movie at all.
Again...thank you Rose for answering my questions. :)

I know "Notes 2" is cut, but is "Twisted Every Way" still in the film someplace? I'd hate to see that part go...

Hi Rose its me again. Thanks for being so helpful. Really, you are a dream come true. I have a few more questions:
-Is the mirror bride still in the Music of the Night scene, and if so does it work on screen?
-How is the croaking in Il Muto? We all loe a good croak!
-How do they do Twisted Every way, assuming its in the film?
Thank you soooo much!
blueroses24: The condonza is excellent. Like I said, Emmy's tons better than Sarah Brightman.
And I looked at my pass again: There's nothing on it to indicate that it was for "Phantom," just the name of the company running the screening (Movieview or Filmview) and the date. So I guess it wouldn't help much.
twotrey: I have no idea what song "Twisted Every Way" is. I'd be willing to bet it's still in; the title's just not ringing a bell.
madaboutoz: The dummy brise is still there, but we don't see it for very long. Christine just gets a brief look at it and faints. It doesn't reach out for her, which kind of disappointed me.
The croaking is funny, but it doesn't really sound like croaking. Has anyone seen "Napoleon Dynamite"? Remember Tina the llama and the sound she makes? That's kind of what it sounds like.
I'm so glad to know I made you guys so happy! You've made my week!
Please comment on what Butler's singing voice is like. Strong or light? Rock or theatrical?
I'd say his voice is fairly strong. He's not a trained opera singer, but his voice is, I think, pretty theatrical and he's great in the role.
Also, I just looked up "Twisted Every Way" and it IS in the movie. They put the "Notes" part in the Phantom's speech in "Masquerade" and moved Christine and Raoul's part to just before "Don Juan Triumphant."
And, I submitted a review to Ain't It Cool News last night, so look for it!
Do you know if they lowered the key of the songs for the movie? I heard that they did, and it would make sense--I mean they did it for Evita, but I would just be so disappointed if the key was dropped. I'm a Phantom purist, I guess.
-Smiles
I think the keys are still the same, but I'm not a Phantom-phile, so I could be wrong.
My review is up! Be warned: There is a little swearing.

Holy crap, people think I'm a studio plant!

I'm sorry those people over at ain't it cool aren't as appreciative of your review as we are. They are just being down-right cruel by calling you a "studio plant," and one lunatic even said that you are Joel S. Now, why in the world would Joel post a review on ain't it cool?
Some people! As I said before, I was very disbelieving of Scooby's review because it was vague and he basically refused to answer any questions. But you have given some info that we can prove, etc.
I'm going to be so mad if I have to wait til January to see this film. I'm all psyched for Decemember...but the United States may not have a wide release until January...according to this specific source. The limited release only involves 3 places and I don't live in any of them!
I've only seen the show twice at the Fox...and try to see it every year. Maybe the Phantom will come to the fox in the fall of 2005...if this film is a big success. The last time I saw the show was with Rebecca Pitcher as Christine, and I didn't like her voice or performance at all.

Excellent review Rose (tho' I'd have added a bit more enthusiasm for Patrick's own *hotness* hee hee!)
So what if they think you're a plant...it's just that you sound like a seasoned reviewer.
Kudos!

I'm not seasoned, by any means. I'm just good with words. I wish I was registered so I could respond to these people, but their registration is down until further notice. Damnation!

Hi there
Honestly don't worry about the talkback portion of aint it cool. Those are just jerks showing off, and I've never, ever, ever read anything good they have to say. They seem to like to post just to see their names on screen. It's not even worth it to argue with them (Yeah, I've tried lol)
If there were any doubts, I'm sure Harry wouldn't have even posted it. :)

First of all, thank you for being so kind and answering everyone's questions, Rose. It's very appreciated.
I just have a few questions that some other people didn't ask. In the flashback scenes some people were assuming that the children are laughing at the Phantom when he has the sack over his head and is being mistreated. Is that how it goes?
Not sure if this was covered or not before, but does Christine know that it's the Phantom early in Point of No Return?
Does Raul find the unconcious cabbie and then knows to go after Christine and the Phantom?
Are there certain characters who don't speak at all, just sing?
About the audition tape thing, whether it's an audition tape or not I think people were wondering if that mp3 is how "All I Ask of You" sounds exactly in the film. Some people were worried about this because while Emmy has a good voice she doesnt hit a couple of the parts as well as people hope she does in the finalized film.
What do you think the general audience reaction to the film was? Do you think anyone wrote down something telling the director to cut certain things? I hope not (unless certain small things don't work).
captain_zahn: Yes, that's how the carnival scene goes.
I think Christine is initially hypnotized at the beginning of "Point" and doesn't realize it's him until "Say you'll share with me..."
Raoul actually doesn't find the cabbie unconscious. Rather, he discovers Christine's not in her room and runs out looking for her. Then he sees tha cabbie rubbing his head and asks him where she went, to which he replies, "The cemetary."
I don't think there are any characters who don't speak at all.
Listening to that mp3, I'm pretty sure it's not the version used in the. It's not as strong vocally as the one I saw.
The audience loved it, but it was made up of mostly "Phantom" fans. And I can't speak for anyone else, but I sure didn't tell them to cut anything!
And once again, thank you, guys! At least *someone* believes me, unlike so many snotty little f***s over at Ain't It Cool.

Thanks for the review at AICN! No one pays attention to the posters there anyway...they're extremley negative. It'll definitley get the word out about the movie though, so good work!
Scooby Doo said the movie opened with a candle shining light on a postcard of the Opera House? Is that true?
Also, how is the choreography in the movie? Even though I'm somewhat underwhelmed about the costumes in "Masquerade", I think the fan idea is a good one.
And did you answer that question (someone else asked it) about how emotional was the movie for you or in general? I kind of wanna walk away feeling depressed and inspired. Thanks :)
Scooby Doo is right: The movie does open with that scene. That's also how it ends: The last images fade to black, we see the candle again, and it snuffs out. Lovely.
The choreography is very good, even for "Masquerade." The chorus does most of the dancing on the steps, with the fans. The principals dance down on the floor, in more of a ballroom style.
I'm not easily moved in movies, but I left the theater both sad over the end (of course!) and elated at the grand spectacle of it all, and how well it was done.

Thanks A G A I N Rose
And maybe Scooby Doo did see the movie? He wasn't a fan of Emmy or Gerry's vocal ability though. He infered that they should've been dubbed, especially for the title song. People hear things differently though...so...
Rose, i just wanna say thanks again for all this... you're amazing... and this really is getting me more excited about it... if that is at all possible...
Well, good! Glad to hear it!
Fabulous Rose "Butler never gets whiny, as so many Phantoms have, and he performs his songs with an almost primal growl in his voice. Plus, he's damn hot. DAMN hot." Oooooh primal growl??!! :)
Heehhe. Too bad you didn't have a tape recorder with you, then we couold have heard what Gerard sounds like.
It would have been confiscated, sadly. I haven't seen that much security anywhere since I stopped flying. Yeesh!
