Nolan looks great as Birdie!
He doesn't look like my idea of Birdie at all. He looks about 12 years old though maybe he comes across as older next to Allie. The shark skin suit is sharp but not what I think of Birdie wearing at all.

Posted: 8/10/09 at 9:10pmThe costume didn't bother me. But he just looks so young. Not at all like the sex symbol/heartthrob Conrad is supposed to be. I'm hoping to be surprised when I go see it in September.

Posted: 8/10/09 at 9:13pmThe costume, itself, is nice. That's a great suit. It's just that when I think "Conrad Birdie" I don't think "suit with matching tie". To me Conrad is the rebel and the bad boy with the good heart. I hope that makes some sort of sense lol

The costume reminded me of the costume worn during the 1967 movie during "Honestly Sincerely". His snazzy gold suit...I just hope Nolan can be "bad ass" enough.
Can I say ass on here? Oops. I just did. Twice.

I think you can as long as you're not using it to describe another poster
This is the way I think about him dressing (number starts at about 4:20)

That is what I was picturing when I said a gold suit. For some reason, I remembered it as a 2-piece gold business type suit. Much like Nolan's "shark" suit. Only gold.
And I'm going to go out on a limb and say I liked the Ann Margret movie less than I liked the 2000 (?) made-for-tv movie. Ann Margret's Kim was too obnoxious.

Posted: 8/10/09 at 9:37pmReally?! That long ago? Damn. I very clearly remember watching it on Sunday night movie night on ABC with my mom singing along. I must be getting old.

I think a lot of people will agree that the 1995 version is better. It's definitely closer to the show but, I think, I like Ann-Margaret better as Kim just because she seems more age appropriate than 30 year old Chynna Phillips

I think all of the girls in "Birdie" shirts are part of the cast - interesting that they didn't mention it in the captions.

Elvis was 24 when he went into the army. So, Conrad would be the same. Nolan is about 23 or 24 but he just doesn't look it.

Of course. How else do you think they got the shirts before anyone else? lol
And they want people to think the show already has all these fans. Why tell people the girls are employees? It ruins the image they're trying to project.

Posted: 8/11/09 at 9:55amHe's old enough to be drafted into the Army. BBB is set in 1958 during the Cold War. I think the draft age was 18.

I don't think there was any secret that the girls (and boys) in Birdie t-shirts were cast members. One of them was walking around the line introducing herself as such, and the others were inside the lobby (which had huge glass windows, so you could see in) rehearsing the bit.
The whole bit with them chasing Birdie was a re-enactment of a scene from the show and goes along with the idea of Birdie being this mega-star.
There was not one person on line who thought that part of the event wasn't staged.
Incidentally, a few of the passersby who wandered past the line were wondering if that was Zac Efron, and that that's what all the commotion was about.

I'm amused that there's a headline at the top of the page announcing the launch of the BBB website but the site doesn't work. All I get is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
