Yeah, here's Ramin in his original get-up-- honestly, I believe that if he's not scary-looking, the whole appeal of the Phantom totally disappears. If he just looks like a cute boy in a goofy mask, there's not much point. That one picture of him and Christine standing together looked like an expensive high school production of Phantom!

Whoops, double post! I'll just replace it with a picture of Ramin in his NEW get-up.

Um, no.
Is it just me or is the design for the mask more, I don't know, different? It just looks different.
That balcony makes it seem like Sierra got thrust back into The Little Mermaid. Under the Sea!
Also, her facial expressions...maybe each of these pics were taken with the robot Christine, no emotion, botox.

The eye hole is wrong. It's off from where it should be.
He's looking forward and it looks like he's got a lazy eye.

The new mask looks more like a 1/2 of a white monkey ask from Wicked and the brows bit is also more 'kind & gentle' so to speak compared to the original one which has a little evil 'S' shape brow... not sure if you get me ~
The set... it's not ugly but... from the pictures it is definitely not worth the hype around it. They spent like 3-4 months in the Adelphi sorting out the illusions and the set and from what I've heard it's like a minimal stage with big set pieces in it... the gimmick that makes ALW famous is his lush, overly-romantic, easy-to-the-ears music with grand design for set & costumes for his productions... listening to the CD and seeing these pixs, he seems to be aiming for a completely different road (not in a good way)

Yeah, I didn't think that was Ramin.
(And it's Cudia, BTW.)

You guys are really stretching it if you see a vag.
I see beautiful Art Nouveau set pieces.
(NOT 'art deco')

Posted: 3/3/10 at 7:15pmI know these are just a few pics, but it would appear that the set design is very lackluster compared to POTO......A show from the 80's outshining something of 2010. I'm in no way saying a show has to be a huge visual production to be good, but I think most people expect a sequel to at least measure up in production. It looks sorta depressing.

I agree jakebloke.
The thing is, the set design for the original Phantom was VERY minimalist, most of it was curtains and set pieces. The office was a chair, desk, door and a curtain. The opera scenes were mostly backdrops. It wasn't a busy set design but it worked and was still lush and beautiful. Granted there's only a few pictures and it's hard to judge without seeing things in action but there's nothing special about it and it doesn't really evoke a mood, and this is supposed to be Coney Island in the early 20th century! There was SO much to play with for that location and time period.

So, I'll say it (someone already has, though) - it does look like a really expensive, well-put on regional theater production of "Phantom." Not what I expected.
As for that one set piece that's already been made fun of, I didn't gather vagina, as much as I gathered rib cage. I think it looks more like ribs than the former.
Has the Phantom not changed clothes in 10 years? He's still wearing the same tux. lol
I do agree that the cast looks so young....but that's Broadway now - young, young, young. Disappointed in the makeup - he doesn't look as disfigured as before. You'd think with time, he'd have actually gotten worse (skin peeling, wounds getting infected. I don't even really know why they felt the need to change his makeup or do a new "life cast" - judging from the few pictures I saw, it's not THAT highly different.
Anyway, I am a HUGE Phantom of the Opera fan, and hope the show does well, and will reserve any further judgement until I see some video or hopefully (fingers crossed) see the show in person.

Ew. Really disappointing.
The Phantom's wig is fantastic, but the mask and make-up suck.
As for the sets... eh.

Baby Daddy?
Sorry I didn't read the Cliff Notes.
