Posted: 3/3/10 at 12:00pmHow is it that Sierra Boggess keeps getting stuck with high (low?) camp-productions? Poor thing.

agh, i hate to say it, but ramin DOES look a little too young in these pics to be the phantom. and i'm not sure how i feel about sierra's wig yet.
beyond the over the top plot, my biggest worry is that too much phantom time onstage is going to take away the mysterious dynamic that made it work in the first show.

Posted: 3/3/10 at 12:34pmIs it just me but is Ramin too handsome to be Phantom? The set does not look good at all...

Posted: 3/3/10 at 12:39pmWell, they did keep the deformity pretty much the same as in the original show, but the Phantom looks younger than Raoul did, supposedly, ten years ago. If they are going for the youth market, can the "youth" afford the tickets?

Posted: 3/3/10 at 12:42pmOne can only hope that a few changes will be made set and make-up wise; because Ramin is looking prettier than Gerald Butler's Phantom and I thought that wasn't possible.

Posted: 3/3/10 at 1:17pmAside from how hideous the design is, can Mr O'Brien explain why they are younger in the sequel, considerably younger?

So...it's a cartoon...
And it takes place in a world where people age backward...

What I want to know is why they changed the Phantom makeup design so much? It's clear from the pictures that the deformity is not as extreme as in the original production, you could always see a peek of the deformity on the lips even when the mask was on in the original. And the makeup on the "normal" side of the face is so minimal that it looks like he's not wearing anything. At least the makeup design in the original could hide whatever age the actor playing the Phantom really was in the original. If you look at pics of Ramin in the original he actually reads older than he does in this.
On the whole I'm not too impressed with what I'm seeing of the production design.

Posted: 3/3/10 at 2:14pmSierra looks like she escaped from the "Big Love" compound with that hair, and Ramin looks way too young for a man who should be in his late 40s to 50s (or older.) In that first picture he looks like an exact copy of Gerard Butler.

My thoughts, exactly, morosco.
Why in God's name are the Phantom and Christine performing a scene in an enormous vagina. Why?????

Posted: 3/3/10 at 2:52pmI did dig Summer Strallen's costume, but who knew they had such spectacular reconstructive surgery at the turn of the century....

Posted: 3/3/10 at 2:59pmI feel like 2/3rds of the reason to see a sequel to Phantom would be spectacle. Is this really the set? Boring.

Posted: 3/3/10 at 3:21pm.......um okay. I was scared the sequel would be bad from the beginning but this is....I don't know what to think till I've seen it myself. But it looks to me like they're trying to be more modern Broadway with the simple sets and flashy outfits. And there's something about Ramin that bugs me. I don't like the hair and the less distortion...oh well we'll see.
