Posted: 1/15/08 at 11:16amIt's like they airlifted my apartment building onto the Richard Rodgers stage! Right down to the unisex salon underneath.

Is it the same design team as off Broadway?
Who is J. Phillip Bassett? The Production Stage Manager?

Posted: 1/15/08 at 12:28pmWondering what the sight lines will be like from the rear of the Rodgers considering it looks like action takes place on the apt. balcony level. We all know the sight lines were a mess for Tarzan

....Karen Olivo is conspicuously missing from those pics. The attractability factor would skyrocket had she been included...

I think you will be able to get heavily discounted seats at all times. I wouldn't worry too much about having to sit up there.. unless it is by choice. ( not a reflection on the show.it is just a tough sell)

Posted: 1/15/08 at 1:41pmTure, they're not blessed in the looks department. What's even worse is the commercial they're airing-it looks soooo amateur.

Andy Blankenbuehler (the chreorapher) is so cute! I remember meeting him at the Colonial Theater during the FOSSE try-out in Boston... such a nice guy ! I am soo happy for him that he is now a succesful chreographer ...Kudos to Andy!
and who does not love Seth Stewart?...Madonna's ex-dancer in Reinvention tour..such a cutie .. with a gorgeous bod !
hmmm.. Latino boys...what can I say ! me pone caliente..... bebe !
I am soo happy for the CAST & CREATIVE team! More power & do your 'thang' on Broadway....IN THE HEIGHTS !!!!

Posted: 1/15/08 at 1:56pmWell Jaystarr, you DID pick out the 2 cuties from the show. I'd also include the director as part of that threesome as well !

Ah, then the show's probably not worth seeing. Fat, ugly people are all naturally untalented. Kind of like a few years ago, when I had a chance to see "Long Day's Journey Into Night," but skipped when I saw the production photos. One guy wasn't bad looking, but it was some old hag (Vanessa something or other), some old chubby guy with an Irish-sounding name and some other nerdy chubster. Seymour, I think his name was. What an unpleasant evening that would have been.
They should have just cast this show with all those bathhouse boys from "The Ritz." Now THAT'S what I call talent!

well. guys.. I finally read the whole thread...not just skimming...
First and Foremost- All of the cast are talented and they represents "regular" latinos
living in Washington Heights (Puerto Ricans Domicanos, Cubans) and they are not supposed to be Jennifer Lopez, Eduardo Verrastigui, Sebastian Rulli and so fort..
these are regular immigrants who are trying to better their lives by living in the USA...its not RENT REMIX that they need to capitalize on their looks or style... its
a hispanic musical about the lives of immigrants living in Washington Heights.
Looks are not important for me in this production... they are all talented , they sing well and dance well.... and that's what IN THE HEIGHTS supposed to be... just regular folks like you and me.... I have seen the show and it has a heart , good story , good music and that's what important---Just my opinion..

mind to tell you.. I think this is going to be a hit ! I have been to WORLD STAGES three times and everytime I go there- CELIA is full .... of hispanic audience....and not only that.. regular broadway folks...
Its TIME to put a HISPANIC musical on Broadway from hispanic composer and hispanics actors. The SCORE has reggaton, rap and hip-hop music which I think we oughta put on a Broadway stage...
Broadway is always a reflection of American music and I say .. its time that we listen to a different beat..... a NEW BEAT.....time for a change... who knows .. it may attact new fans... and that's what we need... NEW FANS... not just tourist who clamour for Juke box musical....I must say that IN THE HEIGHTS is probably the most original NEW MUSICAL on broadway this season... not based on existing material...
PURE RAW material....Its not been done for a long time...-iMO...
