There's something weird and almost wrong about Alan Cumming in civilian clothes looking like a normal person.
It's just not right!

Haha, it is a bit of a surprise, innit? Although there's no denying he's gorgeous... even if he does look normal in that civilian garb.
I would love to see this production. Too bad it'll probably be over once my birthday rolls around or else I'd request seeing as a birthday present.

Me loves Dianne Wiest. We (along with Reba McEntire) share birthdays: March 28th.

Posted: 3/11/08 at 5:21pmI saw this last Friday. Thank you so much for the photos. Cumming loses his accent for this part, and is as beautiful and charismatic as always. I was sitting in the first row, and boy are the actors close in this tiny theater! I thought almost everyone in the cast was excellent.

what's that varnish or polish on the floor called?
They used it in Utopia and I've (and this is weird) kind of fallen in love with it!

Posted: 3/11/08 at 7:52pmThe floor looks like a mirror, as the reflections are very exact. Sitting in the first row, it was strange to look "down" into the set in reverse. Just like a visual cliff.

Thanks for the pics J*.
I'm really excited to see this show. I LOVE Chekhov. I wish someone would bring 'The Black Monk' to the stage. I think it would be amazing. I'd like to see more classic plays On and Off Broadway, but I understand it's just not feasible for most of the theatres. It's a shame that such art is being lost. But, it is a business.
Thank heavens for community and regional theatre!
