I know Nine very well, and I can live with the cuts provided it makes a better movie. I think fans of the musical should be grateful it's even getting a movie -- goodness knows it would never have been made if Marshall hadn't commanded it. The fact is that the show wouldn't succeed outside of BroadwayWorld if it didn't adapt itself to a screen format. And we're getting three new Yeston songs! No one has even heard these songs. Let's wait and hear them. Whether or not the movie's bad or good, it will introduce Nine to the general public -- which is a wonderful thing in and of itself.

If you can live with only 6 songs being kept from a full score, then I give you much credit. The problem with 2 of the 3 new songs is that 2 perfectly fine songs were cut for these new songs. Pretty ridiculous.

Last I heard there were seven remaining songs, plus the unsung overture.

The new songs could be better than what they replaced. We really don't know. "Be On Your Own," for example, was cut in favor of a more cinematic song that has the same function.
