I wonder who will be cast in this tour??? I don't know if i want to see this show for the 5th time, no one can be compared to Patti Cohenour. She was simply the best.
It opens in Miami this fall- in fact it will be the first big tour for the new billion dollar performing Arts Center.
I am intrigued about this venue. I don't even know where this will be located exactly, Miami is a big city. South FL will have a corporate-America kind of theatre.
It's right in Downtown and the building is rather controversial. Its WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY over budget and years late. It is supposed to be much like LA's performing Arts Center- it will be the new "focal" point for Miami. The building has a larger space for tours- smaller for opera and dance. A symphonic space and a black box. The opening is scheduled this fall with Rene Fleming and Yo Yo Ma on the same stage- and I know the first tour is "Lights" starting in Miami.
Peace
I saw a clip on a certain website with Celia Keenan-Bolger (sp?) as Clara in the pre-Broadway run. I don't follow her career, but anyone think she'd be a possibility to play Clara on the tour? She seemed pretty good.
EDIT: I just went on the Spelling Bee website and saw that she still was playing Olive...still wondering if there'd be room for her to play Clara.
It would be nice if Celia was in it. Simply because I'd like to see her and I live in SF.
I asked Patti Cohenour in an email three or four weeks ago whether she would be touring as Margaret, and she responded saying that the Broadway cast had just been asked the week before about their "availability and interest," so we may be getting some of them involved...

I think I would be suprised if they get a lot of the Broadway members. Isn't NETWORKS touring this show? Which means it would be under the experimental contract which means their pay would be decreased significantly. Correct me if Im wrong....
Piazza comes to Columbus Ohio March 13-17 2007. Check out BroadwayAcrossAmerica.com for more info

Yes, it is under the Equity Experimental contract arrangement, but that doesn't mean they couldn't and wouldn't pay the principals well above minimum--- which might be enough to induce some Broadway cast members to tour (if only briefly)...it would be the the chorus which would be paid minimum. Even though I was at some of the auditions while I was in New York recently, I don't know yet who offers will be going out to.

Don't expect many--if any--of the Broadway company in the tour. As mentioned, it's an Equity Experimental contract and although the cast was offered, it's still below what they're making now--and the tour is not produced by Lincoln Center.
This tour will be touring very big houses..It's appalling that the producers cannot provide minimum equity wages to the performers.
Chicago!? chicago please!!!

The Equity Experimental Contract provides minimums... not maximums. I have heard that some of the offers are above Production contract minimums. Plus, it's not always about the money...
Yes, NETWORKS is producing the tour, but it is scheduled to play several major venues therefore will need solid, if not spectacular AEA talent to pull it off successfully.
I guarantee the cast will be top notch. It takes special talent to pull of art like PIAZZA.

By now, plenty of NON Equity tours have also played "very big houses."
EEEEEH!!!
So very excited. Just heard, though I don't think it's been officially announced yet, that Clara on the the piazza tour will be played by my girl, the fabulous, it's-about-time-she-got-her-big-break-already!, Elena Shaddow.
Cannot wait to see this! She's gonig to be incredible.
