Hey everyone! The site has been updated again! All the photos of the broadway production are down and have been replaced with the current cast! Great to see!
I really don't like that dress. It make's Christine look heavier than she is.

Is she... fat?
Thanks so much for posting. I think the photos look great!
I think she looks stunning. So she has hips! Its a hard dress to pull off. Part of me always wondered if that's why Patti never wore one, it might have been too unflattering on her.
I don't think Christine is fat at all. I just don't think that dress flatter's her very well.
Is there a link to the Broadway site? Or has that been shut down.
And I think Andrea looks lovely. :) She has such a gorgeous face.

Technically, there is no Broadway site.. at least, none that I know of.
There was never a broadway site, just lct.org which didn't have anything but basic show information.
I am so disappointed they didn't chose to put a blonde wig on Elena. She looks so incredibly ethnic in those pictures. I know it's been pointed out that by the end of the novel, Margaret mentions that Clara looks like one of the Italians, but isn't Clara's "all-American" look what catches Fabrizio's glance in the first place? Elena looks so tan and her hair is so brunette. To me, I don't see a difference between her and any of the other ensemble members except in the contrast between the colors in costume.
The pics look GREAT. Can't wait for this in Philly.
I like seeing a brunette Clara so far in pics.
There is a point in the novel where Clara starts blending in with the italians so much, her mother even mistakes her for one, I believe.
So I think a darker/brunette Clara looks great.
Also she doesn't look THAT ethnic. It's not like she's dark skinned.
Be glad they didn't put a blonde wig on Elena. She is very brunette Woman. She looks fine without a blonde wig. Why is eveybody making such a big deal about her hair color? From what I hear Elena is a great clara.

I try to be open minded about the lack of blonde wig, because I hear Elena is a FANTASTIC Clara. However, I think the choice to have Clara be blonde was an inportant one and added a lot to the story. It allowed Clara to stand out amongst the Italian people. This was easily done by casting a fair, blonde girl as Clara, all three times (Celia, Kelli, and Katie). A bright haired red head would work too, because that would make her stand out. But the combination of Elenas tan skin and dark hair doesnt do well for the overall story. Clara and Margaret are supposed to stand out, and the differences between Clara and the rest of the world are crucial to the story. I'm tired of hearing people's references to the book saying how Clara gradually looks more and more italian, but i think that was both in attitude as well as looks, she was more tan, but i dont BELIEVE she was brunette.
In the pictures, Elena just looks like one of the Italian Chorus members. I appreciat ethe new spin they are trying to put on her physical appearance but i believe the original idea of fair, blonde worked much better. I cant wait to see elena though because i hear fantastic things. i just felt like venting. haha.
Celia Keenan-Bolger wasn't blonde.

Also Laura Griffith when she played Clara in NYC was brunette and not exactly fair-skinned (she's now playing Franca on the tour).
I'm sorry but they need to redesign Margret's dress...she looks fat and frumpy.
"Part of me always wondered if that's why Patti never wore one, it might have been too unflattering on her. "
Thats interesting. What dress did Patti wear?
Anyone who looks at Christine Andreas and thinks, "she's fat" must be holding her to the impossible standard of Nicole Ritchie.
Just because she has a figure doesn't mean she's fat.
She looks it in these costumes. I am not saying she is. The costumes are not flattering to her figure.
I don't think so at all. First of all, look how flat her stomach is. Then see her skinny face, neck, arms and legs.
I highly doubt anyone's going to be confusing her as large anytime soon.
Patti just wore the regular "Light in the Piazza" dress in Fable, the one she wore when she was in rome.
I'm pretty sure Clara was a brunette in the book.
thats not a very good picture of celia, because in a video i saw of that cast, her hair was blonde. her hair was also blonde when she was in sweeney with hugh panaro as anthony, so i figured she kept it from that. her roots are growing out though...but she was blonde.
it was just an opinion
I agree with DramaQueen700.
And Margaret is allowed to be a liiiiittle overweight? I don't think it makes a difference either way. Signor likes a little junk in the trunk!
And if we're going to start pulling out the photos, Celia WAS dirty-blonde...
She does appear dirty blonde in the photos and video, but onstage it played as brunette. In no way did you watch her in the show and think she had blonde hair.
