re: Pictures of The Shrek Marquee at The Broadway

I was about to say that the Shrek marquee is the ugliest I've seen.

Then I realized just how perfect that is.

Seriously, it's Shrek. It's ugly and it's irreverent. It's the way it's supposed to be. I actually like it.

What do you people want it to be?

bwayfan9, I didn't say what you said was racist I was saying that you yourself are. If you want me to remind you of how racist you are then just look back at the thread you created where you asked if Billy Elliot was from the south or if this show took place in the ghetto and that you would only see the "white Billy" in the show. That is kind of racist if you ask me.

It doesn't stand out enough. It's all green. Where's the contrast? How bout a flash of Red? How bout a sprinkle of purple. White's completely lost in glare on a sunny day if people have to look up to see what show it is.
A little known fact is that in the original screenplay, Pan's Labyrinth was Pan's FLAByrinth. Hmmmmmmm...glad they changed it.

Galindathegood posted a thread about how she'd only see Billy Elliot if a white boy was playing Billy. Her avatar was a photograph of Sarah Palin. Winston probably couldn't tell the difference between that avatar and yours... which is actually kind of funny... I guess it's an honest mistake.

While we're all having this totally on-topic discussion about the marquee for Shrek the Musical...

I don't think the marquee's that attractive, but I think it sets the tone for the musical. Shrek 3 satirizes over-the-top glitzy musical productions, so I couldn't see them with a sparkly multicoloured marquee. But it'll look dreadfully out of place among a lot of the prettier marquees, and I don't know if it's all that eye-catching.

Schmerg_The_Impaler, your right. It was an honest mistake. I saw the avatar of Palin and McCain and jumped to that conclusion.

I do like that the marquee of this show is the only thing that isn't really identical to the movie. It is the only thing that is a little different.

When it comes to shrek in general I kind of find it funny. People were up in arms that the costumes looked too much like the film for their taste. And when the marquee came out which looked somewhat different from the movie and from the logo that the movie used. People are up in arms. Besideds I don't think that the Shrek Marquee is supposed to be eye catching in the usual way. Normally the marquees are very beautiful and get the attention of someone walking down the street. I think that with the whole "bringing ugly back" slogan they are trying to get people to notice it by how ugly and not that beautiful it is. Who knows if that would work.
