Local DIVA and star of Kiss of the Spider Woman(Harold Prince went especially to Buenos Aires to direct her), Victor/Victoria, Evita, Hair, They Are Playing Our Song; Valeria Lynch comes back to the Gran Rex theatre to sing all her hits once again on Ave. Corrientes.

Also original star of Phantom of the Opera and Cats; Sarah Brightman sang in Buenos Aires for the first time and filled the legendary Luna Park Arena, despite the fact that Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Ricardo Arjona and Sergio Denis performed the same night of her concert.
The Luna Park is also located in the theatre district right on Ave. Corrientes, and stars like Luciano Pavarotti, Paul Anka, Liza Minnelli, Frank Sinatra, Pet Shop Boys, Alanis Morissette, Simply Red, Bjork, Luis Miguel, INXS, Ricky Martin, Cyndi Lauper and many others have performed there.
It is also famous for being the site of where Eva "Evita" Duarte and Juan Peron met for the first time.

What great pics! it's always really fun for me to see how Broadway translates to other countries--I will be in Buenos Aires this Spring and maybe will try to see one of these.

I've saw one year ago in a trip to Brazil (the country next to Argentina) two wonderful Brazilians musicals : CARMEN MIRANDA and in a small venue at Teatro Ipanema, a lovely production of GARDEL.Buenos Aires never had a GARDEL musical? Please tell me.

Yes, there are several local musical, the biggest hit was probably an Argentinean version of "Dracula" by Pepito Cibrian.
His new musical "Otello" is on Ave. Corrientes right now, but my review is a pan. The same goes for "Piaf" with Elena Roger, both plays are low budget and a waste of time.
About "Gardel", it might have played in Buenos Aires, but it doesn't come to mind right now. Usually tango shows are very popular among tourists but Argentineans don't go to see tango shows too often because it's something pretty common for us to see, and we can see it on the streets for free.
