'Pippin' is a great show and deserves a new cast recording.
Please, God YES!!! Pippin has some great songs, but I can't STAND listening to that OCR. Some of the people are just HORRID.
*ahem*
Anyway, I'm all for a revival. I was in this show recently and had a blast (see icon), so I'd love to see it reworked and such.

ARDEN will be in THE TIMES....
So I say shave Harris Doran and throw him in it,
he's so cute, and he can sing and act.

He was one of Fosse's main muses and learned a great deal from the master as well as from the other legends like Hal Prince he worked with over the years. Some smart producer should give him a shot the next time a dance-oriented show comes down the pike -- and CERTAINLY if a revival of PIPPIN ever comes up. Frankly, he's as qualified as anyone else out there these days.

Posted: 5/26/06 at 12:16amOh yeah, he did FOSSE on Broadway just a few years ago. He doesn't move like did in his prime, but he's almost 60 and he endured several painful surgeries after being hit by a car in the early 90s that left doctors wondering whether he'd ever even walk again. His recovery has been miraculous and he can even still dance some of his old Fosse routines. He certainly moves well enough to direct and choreograph. Heck the legendary Martha Graham was still choreographing into he 90s when she could barely walk.

Stephen just called me and said that due to my age I cannot be Pippin, oh well!
Margo, I agree! It could be a coup!
I took the afternoon off on a Wednesday to see Ben in Wicked in Chicago! What a treat!

I kind of think Pippin IS Fosse's staging... there's some ok songs and stuff... but... I always kind of thought the show was the staging... that doesn't mean it could be revived... it would just have to be done by someone really creative... someone really willing to go out on a limb.

A Pippin revival is necessary. And, I really think nows the time to do it, because Stephen Schwartz's name is big right now (ok, his name isn't... but if you say "Wicked's Stephen Schwartz", it is).
Actually, scratch that. Wait until 2007-2008... Michael Arden will be free then

Posted: 6/1/06 at 12:51amThe marquee of the 5th Avenue's production of Pippin in Seattle said From the Creator of Wicked above the title. It was kind of embarrassing.

Posted: 6/1/06 at 1:03amI saw a pretty good local production of Pippin about three years ago. It was kind of similar to Vespertine's idea. The costumes were fairly modern and then enssemble was definitely scheming. Tyler Maynard played Pippin and was actually quite good in the role, although he looked very young compared to the woman playing Catherine.
