I think Marcus Chait hits the proverbial nail on the head by stating that Broadway NEEDS a musical like 'The Pirate Queen'. In an age where juke-box musicals and movie-musicals are prevailing we need a traditional, narrative driven epic, with sweeping love songs and 3 dimensional characters that we empathise with.
I hope the show is a huge success. Stephanie deserves it.

I agree with Tech in regards to the Opening of the show. I really liked the Opening in Chicago but this sequence of oar pounding and irish step dancing is even more exciting. It allows there to be more dance from the beginning instead of having to wait 40 minutes. I think audiences will welcome this as the irish step dancing takes the show to a whole new level.
I too would love to see Hadley nominated for a Tony. I wonder which category they would put him in... Leading or Supporting?
I have never heard of the Stage Notes blog but I'll definitely keep my eye out for it. Would you let us know when it's out? I wish they would have had Steph singing in the Broadway.com video but I think it was Broadway.com that edited the video itself. Hopefully NY 1, Broadway Beat, and the Stage Notes Blog will give us more Steph!
There are two new castcoms up that show some beautiful stills of the show. The look of the show was so stunning in Chicago and I really hope that doesn't change too much. In the new castcoms Marcus Chait talks about the changes and there is a clip from BOYS WILL BE BOYS. The newest video is Richard Maltby's introduction to Castcom. Both great vids.
Go PQ!

Happy to see the buzz on PQ has improved since I was last here.
I just got caught up on Castcoms and Photo Calls and Bway.com videos, and I have to say, things seem to be looking up for the Queen of the Pirates. Everyone seems to be excited about the work taking place, and very happy about Graciella and Richard Maltby joining the team. From the little bit they are telling us online, it sounds like they are making some good changes. As someone who saw the show a few times in Chicago and saw the potential that this show had, I can't wait to see where they've taken it.
Not much gossip, but a bit of inside scoop. I believe I mentioned back in the days of PQ Chicago that I have a friend who worked in marketing there. Well, she heard from a friend working on the show now that got to see the final rehearsal in the studio that people couldn't believe how far the show had come. The story was apparently much more solid and the characters much more defined. Steph's new song is supposed to be incredible. The conflict and parallels between Queen Elizabeth and Grace is supposed to be much more clear, and the conflict between Grace, Tiernan and Donal much stronger now. Sorry I couldn't get any more specifics from her yet. But I'll try!
Oh, and thankfully the pirates are cuter than ever!
Looking forward to March-

Oh, as far as Hadley and Tony noms. I'd love to see it to. The only thing I can think of that would make sense would be for him to be considered Lead Actor. He is billed along side Steph with the rest of the principals below the two of them. I'd love to see Steph and Hadley in Lead and Linda and Marcus in Supporting.

The cast certainly does have fun with one another! Stephanie and Hadley have much charm and it does come across in their interaction. The pirate men are awesome as well.
Can't wait to see the reconstruction of the show. Yeah PQ!!!!

Two more Castcoms have been added and I THINK there is a short clip of Stephanie's new song. It might not be it but I don't really remember this bit in the original production. Also the actress who plays Evelyn gives Jeff McCarthy a piece of her mind! I am all for a dance off!
Any news on the Stage Notes blog?
