So I went today for my first time...and as I expected, I really liked the show, even though it's flawed. I love Boubil/Schoenberg music, and loved the feminist spirit of the story (and it probably helped since everyone was cheering all the moments that the women overpowered the men in the excitement). Stephanie and Hadley and Linda were fantastic (I can see why many people felt this show deserved some Tony nominations...I would have given it to Linda over Charlotte and Rebecca), and it's always nice to see a show with such an excited audience.
I was in the back of the orchestra, so I couldn't see the tears, but there were a couple of times I could see Stephanie kind of closing her eyes and taking a moment while the audience applauded the end of a big number.
I was a little surprised that there was no speech, but still. Most of the audience was standing before the lights came up for curtain call.
And I "met" (my that of course I mean got them to sign my playbill and said they were great, because that's totally meeting, I swear) Boublil and Schoenberg. That was awesome, I just adore their scores, and boy I was grateful for that.
(BTW, amalou, were you behind me at the stage door? Comcast?)
