Posted: 9/5/06 at 4:41pmMost of the big set is already in. I walked by the loading dock on my way into the Hotel Allegro (which is in the same building as the Cadillac Palace Theatre)this afternoon. Props were being unloaded from a semi labeled Alberta Ballet into the back of the theatre. I saw the ships wheel and several wood pieces and rails. Everything I saw looked great. I am very excited to see this show. I bought tickets late in the run.

I'm just hoping that Hadley Fraser will be shirtless during the show at some point. That alone would be worth the price of admission.

"...one of the chosen in the Pirate Queen audience..."?
Not sure what that means... do they pull people on stage for audience participation?
I haven't heard or read about any audience participation. It's so amazing how rumors get started. I took "one of the chosen" to mean that they feel blessed to be able to see it. Fachedaluna, feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I'm fairly certain "chosen" refers to the people who are lucky enough to see the show. There's been no talk of audience participation, that I know of (and, knowing the story, I can't imagine how that would work in this show).
I agree that you can't judge how GOOD a show is by how much scenery there is (SWEENEY was well done, and had a minimal set; I won't list ones that have elaborate sets but are poorly done, though I'm sure everyone can think of a couple). We have been told, however, that it's a very lavish show and, honestly, the "ship" set alone must take up quite a bit of space!
The castcom previews have me even more excited to see it than I was before: the music sounds good, the parts seem well-cast and, yes, for those of you wondering, there are some YUMMY pirates! I mean, come on...Hadley Fraser alone....Ahem.
Anyway. I have tickets for mid-November, Center Dress Circle (best I could do on the date I finally pinned some people down to make the trip with me--does anyone here know the Cadillac well enough to judge how good my seats are?). REALLY looking forward to it...and to more castcom!

To Popular-I'm glad to hear that. :]
I live in northern California, so all I know is that people up here do not know nearly as much about theater as the East Coast people do. I didn't mean to stereotype L.A.ers. :]
It was awesome. - theaterkid1015

I will see it twice, once on the floor and the other in my regular season tickets which are near the top!
Update:
This morning there were about 20 chairs and a screen set up in the Palace lobby with the promo video running.
