There's a movie version. It's cruddy, but Angela Lansbury's in it.

Now...volleyballer is right. That number is from the Pirates of Penzance. The Major General is singing to the pirates who have just landed ashore and want to wed his daughters against their wills.

Please be aware that the NY Shakespeare production with Linda Ronstadt, Kevin Kline, et al, added two songs from othe rG&S shows: "Sorry her Lot" from HMS Pinafore, and "My Eyes ae Fully Open" from Ruddigore.

And the melody of "My Eyes are Fuily Open" was used again for "The Typing Test" in Thoroughly Modern Millie.
