The Theatre Museum that once sat in the centre of Covent Garden could soon return in a slightly different guise. A theatre themed restaurant along the same lines as Planet Hollywood is in the works to take over the site and open in Spring 2009. The project is due to cost in the region of £6M. A very large percentage of the original collection, owned by the Victoria And Albert Museum, will be on display together with an ever changing collection of costumes and props from shows currently running in the West End. There will also be a live show performed as people eat in a cabaret style set up. The venue will be run by the Tribeca Group who run Michelin starred London restaurant, Nobu. Tribeca is owned by Robert DeNiro. Talks are at an early stage but are moving steadily.
I've always liked the idea of a proper cabaret..with food at tables, and all that stuff..probably too many 1930s movies with those huge rooms..and also my childhood in the north east when you had all the clubs like the Fiesta and Top Hat with major acts in clubs built usually out of old cinemas
