Please Read: My Message to the Members of BWW.com

Hello everybody.
As some of you may know, my name is Brandon. I have been a member of BroadwayWorld.com for a few months now. I have met many people on the boards who I have become good friends with and enjoy. It has also been nice to be able to come to a community where there are so many other people who share the same passion for Broadway as I do. I would also like to commend Rob and Craig for doing such an excellent job with running such an excellent site, that keeps so many people up-to-date with everything that is going on in the Broadway community. That being said. . .
I will no longer continue to be a member of BroadwayWorld.com. The constant negativity that surfaces this board is completely outrageous and is getting way out of control. I have surronded myself with it for many months now, and I simply can no longer handle it. I am not complaining, or saying that everyone on this board is terrible. There are MANY people on here who I adore, and enjoy reading their posts. However, it always seems that no matter what thread you are reading, there's always a ton of negativity that follows it.
One instance of this is the CONSTANT battering and harassment of Broadway performers. Now, we are, of course, entitled to our opinions. However, I find it extremely unnecessary to state that a Broadway performer has no talent whatsoever. For example, there was a thread about Shoshana Bean making an appearance on the hit MTV show, Made. Someone SIMPLY asked 'what is Shoshana doing on the show?'. The VERY FIRST reply was 'teaching someone how to be untalented'. Why do you people do this? It's completely unnecessary and extremely immature. I am simply fed up with these kind of posts. It's getting out of hand.
Because of this, I will no longer be a poster on BWW.com. I just can not handle the constant bickering and negativity that is the message board. I want to thank those of you who were so kind to me. I truly appreciate it.
I will continue to post updates about Cheyenne Jackson and Justin Patterson, whose fan sites I operate. However, other than that, I will no longer promote or interact with this board. Like I said, it is NOT everybody on this board.
I would still like to continue contact with some of you. Below is my e-mail address. Feel free to e-mail at anytime. Just because I no longer do not post on here does not mean I want to lose contact with you guys completely.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope everybody is doing well, and I wish you all a happy holiday season.

Oh great. Another "I'm leaving, give me attention" thread. THAT is what is really needed to get the board back in shape! Au revoir, and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out...

We get your point honey.

I thought you weren't posting anymore? Now who's being immature?

If you tweens didn't get pissed every time someone made some silly comment about one of your marginally idols, then the board would be a better place.

Good luck in where ever life takes you!

However, I do feel that if you are willing to post on a message board about a certain topic, you have to be prepared to get flamed. It's a part of life.

The Internet, contrary to popular belief, is not serious business. Quit acting like it is. This seems like a plea for attention.

Broadway performers are public personas. Just like Britney Spears, who gets bashed every time her name is mentioned - you put yourself out there, you know everyone is not going to like you.

Thankfully, everyone feels differently about different performers. Otherwise, only two would be working.

Good point Rath.

We all, at one point or another, have bashed someone in the public eye. Even if everyone else hates them (ie Spears), you're still bashing someone in the same manner done to your idols. They are public figures, and hence, subject to criticism.

And did you ever stop and this that people are just saying these things to be silly, or clever, or just to egg you on?

Rath, would one of those two working actors include SHOSHANA? re: Please Read: My Message to the Members of BWW.com

While I tend to agree with the sentiment, I don't see the point to post this type of thing.

I think it's unfortunate when we lose a potentially good member of the community, but it's trite and useless to post a letter of resignation.

Anyway, take care.

willact: I agree that there is no need for people to be so damn nasty and catty on here. Everything we say gets back to the performers, and I believe that the effect is greater as Broadway is a much smaller circle than that of a pop or movie star.

Alas, there will always be bitchy people, and you should try to ignore their nasty comments as it really speaks more about themselves than it does the performer they are clearly obsessed with enough to waste energy hating and posting of their hate for them.

It shouldn't get back to them. I certainly don't tell my friends anything negative that's posted about them - what would be the point of that? If they're reading it themselves, that's one thing.

And again, they have put themselves in the public eye.
