First off, the only time I see him post is to give us Cheyenne updates.
Second, if you are still going to post updates, you aren't leaving BWW, and thus - (need I continue?)
And third, the only thing that makes this place tiresome is the constant "'I'm leaving' threads." Talk about negativity.

Who cares about how the Elphabas have been treated? Can't we focus on thigs bigger than Wicked for God's sake!?
If we say Idina or Shoshana or Stephanie or Ana or Kristy or Eden suck, WHO CARES!! They have there fans that adore them, and therefor, they don't need to care about the nasty things we say.
NOTICE: I named more than the two Elphabas all you Shoshana and Idina obsessed people talk about...THERE ARE MORE THAN THEM!!!!!!!

YOUWANTITTHEN. My post wasn't specifically to you.
Another thing : Willact thinks things are bad here. BUT he would not last an HOUR at ATC, talk about bitter queens. The would absolutely eat him alive over there at ATC.

So, b2b, we are saying that it is ok for you to say that you don't care for Idina or Shoshana, but it is not respectful to say "they suck" or other comments that are not constructive or tasteful, but are rude.

No, actually I don't - to be honest.
So, if a show is popular, with fans, it is OK for folks to tear the leads apart with demeaning comments and personal attacks?
Regardless of the star or the success of the show, this is not right.

I think you put too much weight on the matter
Going "Oh no, you rude vile person, how can you say that Idina sucks and is not talented? that is low, vile, mean and malicious, etc.."
Honestly... if you disagree, just say that you think the opposite and move on, but don't take it personal for the performer or show, who you are not and you're not part of.

To me, performers can suck. It is what their voice to me is, that I will express; and if that is "sucking" then I will say it. I would say it to there face and I will say it not to there face.
AND like I said in that post, THERE ARE MORE THAN JSUT IDINA AND SHOSHANA!!! You just mentioned those two, and only them. DON'T YOU GET WHAT I WAS SAYING!? There is more than them, I didn't say they suck, I said WHO CARES if we say.
And now, I don't even care about any point other than THERE ARE MORE THAN IDINA AND SHOSHANA!!!!!!!!!!

Posted: 12/23/05 at 4:59pmThough I am fully capable of empathizing with the sentiments orgiginally discussed here about nastiness, I must say that any attempt to teach or scold or moralize everyone else on the board is completely futile and wrong to attempt. willact4food, you are neither martyr nor saint. And despite your best intentions, to make such a public exit, scolding others on the board as you leave, gives off a clear impression that you place yourself above the rest of us, either artistically, intelectually, or critically. And you simply aren't. On this board, we're all a group of avid theatre fans with clever usernames, day in and day out, posting our opinions about the artform. But the key word is AVID. We're all characterized by our intense and passionate devotion to theatre. And i'm sorry willact, but with passion comes strong emotions/opinions. If you wish to only hear positive feedback about certain things, i suggest you do some research and find a fan club. Because though broadwayworld message board can be many things, it is not a fan club. It is a common interests forum; something than can encompass good and bad, positive feedback and negative frustration. You are not, nor have you ever been in any position to act so moralizing to such a large group of people, most of whom you have never met. Criticism has been and always will exist to be a central counterpart to live professional theatre. The two feed off one another. I suggest next time you become so offended, you simply leave in peace, and not put on this song and dance about it. I wont be damned by you. I don't think most others will either.

theatreboy - that was GREAT. I'm impressed.
You wrote exactly what I was thinking, though I wouldn't have put it nearly so nicely. Honestly, the board's better without self-aggrandizing egotists.
I, for one, just avoid threads that either A)don't interest me or B)I would be insulted by (which, by the way, takes a hell of a lot). The benefits of being an active member on this board (I think I'm 8 posts away from legend status!) FAR outweigh the negativity. I've "met" some truly fantastic people on here, and I can only see that list growing in the future.
I agree with your decision, Willact. I'm sure many of us here do. If you want any more from me, reread theaterboy's comment above - he pretty much said it all. Adios.

HAHA, theatreboy33 rocks.
These exit letters are so flippin' dramatic. If BWW became a place of blanket positivity and lovefests, I would RUN AWAY.
...without a snobby exit letter.

what bothers me is when people are 'rude' with nothing to back it up. If you said Sutton, or Kristin, or Eden, Bernadette, or Sara, Lea,sucks! that is bad, yes bad on your part. But if you say I did not like Sutton, or Kristin, or Eden, Bernadette, or Sara, Lea, because blah blah blah then that is fine.
(thank you YouWantitWhen????)

Horton, I suggest you change the name to Sutton, or Kristin, or Eden, Bernadette, or Sara, Lea, or someone other than Idina or, god forbid, Shoshana.
Because I guess different rules apply to them. For all other stars, semi-stars, and performers, it is not OK to attack them personally and tear them apart when you don't like then, or, prefer the original to the replacement.
And, honest criticism is fine. If you don't like a performance, I am happy to hear about it so I might save some money. If someone truly does "suck" in a role, well, then perhaps they were miscast, are bad, or had an off night. Who knows. But if you provide me reasons that I can actually understand for your criticisms, and don't attack the performer, question the reaason for their birth, and then compare them to an ugly troll - well I will listen.
And, to echo others, nice post Theatreboy

Posted: 12/23/05 at 5:39pmThose posts do suck Horton, but I think generally most of the posters are "fans" enough to have reason to back up their opinions, and most of the time I completely respect and understand most of the posts even if I disagree with them.

Holy crap!!
I didn't say that Idina, Shoshana, so on sucked. I said, who cares I we say they suck.
THEY CAN SUCK TO ME!! maybe not you, but ME!!!
And I mean ANY performer can, but have I said which ones, have I said that they do? NO!
Thanks a lot whoever wrote this letter in the first place for starting a freakin' battle field! You just totally defeated the purpose if your own letter.

willact4food,
If you think it gets dramatic here, this is nothing compared to the real "Broadway World."
I work in the theatre, and it gets much worse, so, if you can't handle this website, than guess what, you are in the wrong industry (if you are in it in the first place).

B2B -
I am not sure if you are responding to me.
But, what bothered me about your post was not any opinion you may or may not have. We all have them, and use them like weapons here sometimes.
What bothered me was this statement:
"If we say Idina or Shoshana or Stephanie or Ana or Kristy or Eden suck, WHO CARES!! They have there fans that adore them, and therefor, they don't need to care about the nasty things we say."
That is what I took issue with.
I just wanted to clarify.
You are entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to mine. That what makes this board go round.

wow i wish i messaged this thread MUCH earlier. I feel the need to quote someone.
“when you live in a glass house you really should not throw stones.”
Where you expecting sunshine when you wrote this good-bye message? By the way, I just want to give a little holler to theatre boy who said everything I wanted to say with a more articulate tone.
I think it’s unfortunate that a member of BWW would want to leave, but let’s face it guys, negativity is everywhere no matter what. It’s in our lives, our thoughts, the shows we know and love, even the actors we know and love (whether they show it or not), and of coarse our message boards. Someone before said that people do it to be funny or to egg other people on. Keep that in mind.
Also, actors get over the negative criticism. They’d have to otherwise they wouldn’t be actors. That’s the thing about them, they have a certain level of ego that hopefully doesn’t go to their head but it also helps them not care so much about the extreme negativity by some theatre go-ers. They know that the same amount of people, maybe more love them. I think it’s silly to want to leave a message board because everything isn't said nicely.
What would the world be like if absolutely everyone was nice about EVERYTHING? Kinda boring. This way we get to argue and get to learn more about the other side. If this small amount a negativity really affects you that much, you need a therapist in order to deal with the world because we’ll all have to deal with it for the rest of our lives.
Believe me, actors wouldn’t be actors if they didn’t expect to be bashed by anyone. Not everyone can love you, and I personally think comments such as "teaching someone how to be untalented" is minor to what most people consider nasty or vile.
