I was just trying to figure out which theatre A Chorus Line might end up in. I figured the theatre has to hold at least 1,000. Based on which shows might close in time(based on early reviews, poor sales, etc.) I've narrowed it down to 8 theatres
THEATRE(Current or future show)
Palace(Lestat - opens 4/25)
Hilton(Hot Feet - opens 4/30)
Schoenfeld(empty)
Belasco(Awake & Sing! - opens 4/17)
Jacobs(Three Days of Rain - opens 4/19)
Brooks Atkinson(The Odd Couple - closes 6/4)
Cort(Barefoot in the Park - opened 2/16)
Barrymore(Ring of Fire - opens 3/12)
Any thoughts as to were it should go???
I prefer the Palace, but that's if Lestat bombs and closes quickly. And the Hilton is too big for ACL.

I believe that the Schoenfeld has been tentatively promised to ACL's producers. It's really too small, but that's where they want it. Does anyone remember that Michael Bennett's choice back in 1975 for ACL's move to Broadway was the Ethel Barrymore? Bernie Jacobs told him he would be better off in the Shubert.

Who knows what will happen, but all I know is it will work itself out w/o me stressing about it. lol.

The Palace is a good place for it.

How about the Gershwin?
Once the reviews for the original production came out, Radio City wouldn't have been big enough!
I remember cutting college to line up to get tickets for the first touring production at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco in 1976. The line went around the block. It was a phenomenon. Many of the OBC came to the west coast in hopes of landing parts in the movie (they didn't). After SF, the show played the (now defunct) Shubert in Los Angeles.
I remember sitting in the second balcony at the Curran, absolutely mesmerized by the show. I can only hope this production has the same effect on other young people. It was a magical experience. I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday, but I can still remember, in a theatre so silent you could've heard the proverbial pin drop, how I felt listening to Paul's monologue. It's a great show.
They've wanted a small theatre all along - way back during the original run, when the musical was on its last legs on Broadway, there was talk of moving it to the Tiny Music Box Theatre - i.e. something closer to the intimate feel of the show "downtown." Didn't happen of course, but I think they are smart to go for a small theatre for the revival.
Whrn is it supposed to go into previews?

Hushpuppy, that story gave me chills. Thank you for sharing.I look foward to seeing A Chorus Line as it has always been a dream of mine to see it on a broadway stage!
Jerry Mitchell has an amazingly touching story on the PBS special that makes me cry everytime I watch it. It is a must see for any Broadway fanatic!

Imo, it should be held in a small theatre because its an intmate show. I think some would dissagree with me on that, but what ever.
It's supposed to go into a Shubert theater so that would eliminate the Palace, Hilton and the Brooks Atkinson from the list in the first post.
Does anyone think that it would be possible for Spamalot to transfer to a larger theater like the Hilton, allowing for ACL to go back to its original theater?
Now we all know....It's at the Schoenfeld and it opens October 5.
