just for sh*ts and giggles CBS Predictions (aka the ones that are taped and not limited to the current season) Chicago Wicked(preferably not "for good") the producers (preferably not "i wanna be a producer") Jersey Boys Mama Mia
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
in previous years shows yet to open haver performed most notably(and disasterously) good vibrations and All shook up. As i recall good vibrations was barely in rehearsals when they went on

I hope they perform something from Mary Poppins, preferably "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" (yes I spelled that right). I can't wait to hear how Ashley Brown sounds.
"We like to snark around here. Sometimes we actually talk about theater...but we try not to let that get in our way." - dramamama611
Normally, arn't the shows that perform during the parade are from the current season? Therefore, I don't think Wedding Singer will perform.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
I can guarantee a Grinch performance (previews start this weekend IIRC, so they must be ready). Chorus Line is another obvious choice (why? It's A Freakin' Chorus Line.) Wedding Singer is probable. Mary Poppins, if they perform, will do one of the songs from the movie (probably Spoonful or SuperCaliThisIsHardToTypeOutBecauseIHaveNoIdeaHowToSpellItidocious).
A Chorus Line Les Miz Mary Poppins Company The Grinch
I highly doubt Wedding Singer will perform if they plan to close the show on New Year's Day. It would be sad if they performed that day and then on Monday announce they are closing on January 1.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
For as long as I can remember, it's been 4 new produtions of musicals, some opened last spring and others may be not even be in previews yet, plus ofcourse the Rockettes and the chearleaders. Corny as hell, but I can't help enjoying this all, Thanksgiving morning, 9 to 10 on NBC, then watching the real parade, then it's Alice's Restaurant on WFUV, and eventually the turkey dinner. As I said, corny as hell, but it's my favorite holiday, just relaxing with family and loved ones, no presures (except for the ones doing the cooking).
Some suggestions- I Hope I Get ItOne (Chorus Line) Supercalifragelistic... (Poppins) Peas in a PodWinter in a Summer Town (Grey Gardens)* and The Grinch or Something from Les Mis
*I may sound crazy, but Grey Gardens may want to perform a number or a medley to sell some tickets. It's not a huge ensemble show, but it could work. Little Shop of Horrors did a duet one year.
Does anyone know how the selection process works? Do shows bid on a spot? Or do the producers of the parade hand pick the shows they want to feature? I wish they'd allow any and all shows to perform, instead of showing us more shots of the freaky clowns on the parade route.

As far as I understand, there is no official plan to clsoe the show New Year's Day. I think they will perform.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

Sweet Charity and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang both performed last year and announced shortly after that they would be closing on New Year's Eve.
"Normally, arn't the shows that perform during the parade are from the current season?"
Last year only Jersey Boys was. Sweet Charity, Chitty, and DRS all opened the season before.
I'm going to say that a definite is The Grinch, whether it be an actual performance or the cast on a float, something Grinch related will be a the parade. Other than that, is anyone's guess, I have a feeling though that there will probably be something from Jersey Boys and The Drowsy Chaperone.
They won't get away with something from Spring Awakening. That's for sure.

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
If Mary Poppins DOES perform (which I would be suprised since Disney does not do this) I am sure they would do Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (I only know how to spell it from listening to the OLCR where they spell it out) because that is the most accessible song from the show. All the rest involve big sets and effects.
