#1Possible Options When You Have Extra Tickets

Hello All,
I have two extra tickets for Evita on Friday, June 8. Great seats: second row center. I posted them on ticketsnow.com, but I was wondering if there are any other options if they don't sell on the website? Other than trying to sell them on the street (ugh!), will the box office try to resell them? I am only looking to get face value back. I already pleaded with TM for a refund to no avail. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!!

Sometime people here might want to buy them -- but you need to change the subject line and give details.
The box office can resell them -- that's what the folk in the cancellation line are waiting for. I have no idea if they give you back your money or not. At both the box office and TM it is explicitly stated that there are no refunds.
I wouldn't think it would be so awful to sell them on the street in front of the theater -- especially since you are looking for face value. Just don't give them away to the awful people that are looking for freebies!

I would also try stubhub. I feel that that is a ticket selling site that is more used and more known than Ticketsnow.com.
With that being said, giving them to the box office to sell on the cancelation line is fine. However, you don't get your money back. However, they do give you the chance to past date your tickets. So, If getting money back (some if not all) is what you want to do. Then I would suggest putting the tickets on stubhub as well.

What box office doesn't give you your money back if they sell your tickets to someone on the cancellation line? (And why would you give your tickets back to the box office if they're not going to give you your money back?)
I don't know how sold out Evita is, but I've sold tickets back to the Wicked box office for them to sell to someone on the cancellation line. Not only did I receive my money back, I actually had paid with a credit card and received my money back as cash.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I will put them on stubhub and hopefully that will work.

Posted: 4/22/12 at 12:30pmI highly recommend just posting here first, Start a topic with the tickets for sale there is a good chance they will go. If listed on stubhub for face (about $150 after fees x 2) they will be taking $45 (15%)from your sale as a commission.

Posted: 4/22/12 at 6:41pmLast month we had 2 extra tickets to a show and gave them to a young couple on their honeymoon. We overheard them talking about how they could only afford one show (in the line in front of us) and thought it would be better to just give them a "wedding gift" instead of stressing about selling them, legalities, etc. Thus, we gave them the tickets for the show the next night. Just watching them smile and hug each other and stare at the tickets was payment enough. Pay it forward and pick someone out for a surprise gift!

Posted: 4/22/12 at 8:41pmall good ideas. these tickets were premium seats, so the cost was 250 each. should Ii post the tickets now or wait until the date gets closer?

Posted: 4/24/12 at 11:12amAlso if you can't sell them you can try to post date the tickets as well. I did it for Follies and had no issue. You aren't going to get the same seats you bought but you will still get to see the show at least.

It can be a bit harrowing compared to Stubhub for you have to meet the buyer in person but you can get your full face value without the hefty commission. I've bought Met Opera tickets many times on Craigslist and never had a problem. I predict you won't have a problem finding a buyer however you sell your tix because the show should do well at the Tonys and you will have a hot ticket by June.

When I was catching My Fair Lady on tour, I purchased student rush seats for $25 each and was seated in row X of the orchestra. Before heading into the theatre, an elderly man asked where I was sitting. When I showed him my tickets, he handed me his for center orchestra row C. He said he and his daughter wasn't able to catch the show and he wanted to give them to someone who would enjoy them as much as he did.
I'm not suggesting you to give your tickets away, but it sure made my night!

SpareStub is a definite option. You find someone to buy your extra ticket and go with you. (Or can just sell and pay less fees than stubhub). Their live beta site is beta.sparestub.com and main site is just sparestub.com
