Josh, you are a real idiot. Why don't you get the hell off the board. Take your negative comments somewhere else.
Geez, it will not last until May or even next year! Come on! Ridiculous! Someone will step in long before that . . . and the lawsuits will abound by actors, musicians, new stagehands [on the lower end of the income], hotels, restaurants and other unions.
What a pessimistic bunch of losers who predict long-term striking until 2008 or beyond!
It will end quite soon . . . before Christmas. Local 1 and the League cannot be full of souless, heartless freaks who want to see Broadway die. Besides the emergency fund cannot last that long.
I think it'll definetly end before Christmas. Both sides can only hold out so long. It certainly won't last till April or May.

Fine, I will. No one likes me anymore, so I think I'll just leave Broadwayworld.com forever.
Josh, please don't be so fatalistic.

Schuyler doesn't want me on the posts. And neither do you, GlindatheGood22.
ADMIT IT!

Weren't you leaving already?
In all honesty, I don't mind you, Josh. But your frantic negativity gets annoying fast.

Josh, I feel like every other post I read that has your name beside it has you threatening to leave the boards and/or abandon your Broadway dreams forever. You've probably been around here for longer than I have, and even I know that the people here really aren't that into either dramatic displays or lovefests toward other posters. Deep breath; if this really makes you that stressed, is it really worth it to read the boards and post?

Sorry, everyone, including bardolator and Schuyler.
I'll try to be more positive. And I won't get any more dramatic or freaky about it.
And now we can get back on topic.

I agree. It wont last for too much longer. It's driving me crazy, I can't go more than an hour without logging on to my computer and checking for updates!! Let's all just pray that the union and the leauge will swollow their pride and find a way to open our theatres. I can see why it's called drama now! (That was a really cheesy joke or at least attempt at one, I'll try and not do that in the future)
I feel sorry for those who are collateral damage in this (restaurants & bars & waiters & waitresses).
Let them stay out forever for all I care. I like theater but somehow will find out things to do & see if it is not there.
Normally 1 gift is a stocking stuffer with a pair of tickets to a show. Now it gets spent on something else. This is a pissing contest that will long be remembered.

I thought the two sides were going to try to have a meeting again on Sunday or Monday----but I read on one of the posts that it was cancelled(?) Did I read correctly or is the meeting still scheduled? (I hope)
Local 1 asked for a new round of talks to begin this Sunday, but the League indicated they would only go if Local 1 was willing to compromise.
To my knowledge, nothing is definite yet.

union meeting today. the local seems much happier now that tom short is gone and we can negotiate our way,
negotiation with the league scheduled for sunday. were told that if sunday failed that we would not meet til next sunday. no day to to day anymore. if they wont negotiate then we take away a week at a time. were told about all of the compromises the local offered and how the league has refused to give anything at all. they just sit there as we make each offer waiting for more without offering anything.
"then we take away a week at a time", that sounds ominous and won't exactly give the folks around here the warm and fuzzies Localone.
Localone, what happened to "back to work by Wednesday"?
I would NOT advise holding your breath.
My wager?
The 2008 New Year Ball will drop in Times Square over 14-blocks of darkened theatres.

i still have a gut feeling that we will be back this week. the local sounds like they really want to make a deal. its up to the league to stop demanding everything without giving anything. if they start negotiating and stop demanding then a deal will be made. if not, another week blown.

next week please?
i am starting to fear for my job and i miss my theatre.
not to mention that no one in my world will be receiving any holiday presents as long as i am subsisting on unemployment checks.
enough is enough.
the producers need to bend and stop trying to break the union.
back to work now!
I'm with Eugene. I still say it will well into 2008 before this ends.
