Premium Seats

What are your thoughts on this? I mean, come on, 300 dollars for a Broadway show. I thought 100 dollars was a lot, and I still try for the cheapest seats that I can (50 and under)...

depends on what show. Sometimes its worth it.
CAGES OR WINGS? WHICH DO YOU PREFER? ASK THE BIRDS. FEAR OR LOVE, BABY? DON'T SAY THE ANSWER, ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.

re: Premium Seats

I would never pay that much for a show. EVER. Frankly, with the abundance of discounts out there for all but a couple of shows, I very rarely pay even $100 for anything. And I've been in the orchestra for every major show for decades. I don't get it. But, hey, if you've got money to burn, go for it.

re: Premium Seats

There are even worse - tickets through brokers

If you live near NYC, I think it is a lot easier to get relatively inexpensive tickets for great shows.

But if you an overseas fan like me, it is not always easy to plan that well ahead and buy tickets much earlier to get good seats. I do try to buy them as early as I could ( many months ahead). Also, for those with Amex promotion, they do not honor Amex-Gold issued out of the USA, as they say the privilege is extended only to USA cardholders. So, that leaves us only the seats available after the good seats are taken during the promotion period. For great shows, we are sometimes only left with "premium" tickets to secure good seats for these shows.

It is hard to love Broadway when you live far away!

re: Premium Seats

My situation exactly. Because I only visit once a year I don't have too many options when shows have limited good seats left. So I would rather pay for premium seats that have the money go to the brokers who charge even more. Because I don't know when I may be back again, having good seats is important to me.

re: Premium Seats

Yeah, that's a bit extreme. I suppose that I would pay that much if it was a show I REALLY wanted to see though. Where are premium seats usually located? I got my second row POTO seats for only $165 for two tickets... can't be much more premium than that, can you?

re: Premium Seats

it is simply outrageous.. as if the producers arent greedy enough charging $100 a ticket, $250- $300 is absurd..

It REALLY ticks me off that they hold almost all the center seats as premium tickets now and leave NOOO decent tickets..

Case in point, I am planning for my March vacation.. we want to see three shows in two days, so on Wednesday the 16th, we got Spamalot tickets in row P a little to the right in the orchestra which arent too bad, for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels they only are giving the last few rows center (the VERY last rows) or way to the sides of the orchestra. If I want to pay $250 a ticket, I can have row D center. Why can't I have it now, its available!!

Dont get me started :)
