Anyone have any ideas on when it’ll be released? I know they started or finished recording.

They finished recording before previews started? I'm not a huge fan of that method. It gets the album out faster but then we end up with versions of songs that don't match the final version of the show.

Was it recorded with Steve Kazee or Andy Karl?

I’m not sure if they finished but on instagram they have been posting pictures in the studio

I agree with not being a fan of cast recordings being recorded prior to the start of even Broadway preview performances.  An actor doesn’t even get comfortable with a role until a few weeks into performances.   PRETTY WOMAN in particular regarding Andy Karl as he, unlike the rest of the cast, hasn’t actually performed the show in front of an audience to tweak his performance.  They had a chance to groove into their roles and songs during their Chicago tryout.  He didn’t.

Back in the old days, it was the tradition to record the cast recording the first Monday AFTER the show opened, when ALL shows were dark.

Now, some shows did record their cast recordings after their out-of-town tryouts, like HAIRSPRAY, so the cast recording was available when the show started Broadway previews.  I believe THE PRODUCERS did as well.

We all know how this pre-preview performances cast recording panned out for the 2017 Broadway revival of HELLO, DOLLY!  The cast had yet to perform the show in front of an audience therefore that special oomph and magic is missing on the recording.  Had they recorded the cast recording AFTER the show opened, Bette and the cast would have infused their recorded performances with honed in nuances and little pepperings thus making it electric and magical.
