The little I've read about this makes me believe that it will be touching and funny.
My only worry is that most of the actresses they've used so far in tryouts productions, look waaaaay too old to be in high school.

It wont be the Broadway Theatre - Color Purple has that.
Itll probably something like The Minskoff
Daivd Zipple did write lyrics and indeed The Woman in White - big Broadway season for him!

Posted: 7/26/05 at 8:45pmthe girls in the NYC workshop version looked very appropriate for the age range, and belted as well as beautifully legit. That's what interesting about the score...the "show within the show" concept lets them utilize contemporary pop sound for the school scenes and a more musical theatre sound for the musical the school puts on. It's a nice contrast. Really good concept. Casting will be key, however. i do tend to think of Barrett as a better choice than Rex Smith, who did Goodspeed's version i believe. The NYC workshop male lead was Tom Wopat, who was quite good.

Is there a song from this called "Live Out Loud"? Shoshana sang it at her Ars Nova Broadway Spotlight Series concert.
Also, a girl recently sang it at Cast Party and imitated Shosh riff-for-riff.
