Posted: 3/28/11 at 5:21pmH2$ is the acronym for the ’95 revival… Can we PLEASE call this one HTS?

Posted: 3/28/11 at 5:24pmI'd actually be interested in this. The original film cut out a huge portion of the score, and had that dreadful 'I Believe in You' segment with Rosemary. Maybe Radcliffe can adjust to the role more by the time they film. Just don't let Ashford direct, and there may be hope yet!

Posted: 3/28/11 at 5:48pmI doubt this would happen. But I love the original movie. I thought it was a brilliant adaptation of the play. They didn't cut out a HUGE chunk of music and they kept most of the OBC.

I think he has a lot of potential to do more musical theatre. He has an okay voice, and he's alright in this role, but it's no better than a performance from a community college production.
I like Daniel, just not as Finch. Too pretty and inexperienced.

I would almost say it's a foregone conclusion that he will play Marius in the film of "Les Mis." If negotiations and scheduling permit. I'm sure he wants it.
And hot off the gazillion-dollar Harry Potter franchise, there's no one in Hollywood who trumps him in that age bracket and who's right for the part.

The article is Exhibit A in "The Art of The Flack".
A press agent thought this up to deflect from the notices and/or to keep the production in the news another day. Said press agent was successful.

No I actually was one of the people advocating Cruz play Claudia.
If Radcliffe plays Marius, who will play Gavroche? He's 5'4? Unless they cast the entire movie small or pull out the Robert Redford box he's going to look a little silly. He's just not a young romantic leading man.

Oops! I meant CARLA, the role she actually played. My bad. You didn't think she was right for it, yet she got (arguably) the best reviews for that film, and the only acting Oscar nomination.
Regardless ...
Are you saying there's never been a 5'4" romantic juvenile lead in a movie? And are you saying there aren't millions and millions of teenage fans who don't already see him as "romantic" material?
They wouldn't have to "scale" an entire film cast to his height, either. Aside from boxes and risers, etc,. which are still used in movies, the only person they would need to cast appropriately would be Cosette. And I'm sure they'll cast a child (not a juvenile) as Gavroche. Height wouldn't be a problem.

Posted: 3/29/11 at 1:49pmI think some girls surely find him attractive, but no I don't think he is a heart throb in the same way that Zac Effron, Rob Pattinson, the Jonas Brothers, Alex Pettyfer, etc. are. I'm happy to be proven wrong as I think Radcliffe is a lovely actor, but I don't think he would be the top choice for the role if they are going for the teenage girl vote.

^ Exactly.
As a side note, I wasn't referring to Les Mis, unless you know something I don't. There are two projects on his plate in the world of musical film, one an established project (successful in Europe but a flop on Broadway) and the other an original.

Posted: 3/29/11 at 10:17pmI happened to see Harvey Weinstein at the show the week after the Oscars, and you know he likes to do movie musicals. So perhaps there's something there?
