Producers Movie- No Change at the Globes

I figured I'd post this.
Everyone who plans on watching the Golden Globes Sunday- don't bother. I doubt "The Producers" will win anything. In fact, I'm sure of it. Anyone agree? Disagree?

Well maybe The Producers isn't the only reason people are planning on watching the Golden Globes.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I might watch if I have nothing to do. I'm disappointed RENT wasn't nominated for anything, I think it was a better film then The Producers, but hey, it might win.

re: Producers Movie- No Change at the Globes

If "The Producers" won anything at the Golden Globes I would have to lose all respect for Hollywood. That movie got poor reviews and never made the top 10 at the box office so the only way it would win anything is if it were the only one nominated in a category. The only reason it is nominated is because of the fact that its "The Producers" and the cast that it holds. Not because of film quality.

Well apparently the name and the cast meant nothing to people since - as you stated - it never broke the 10 ten, which I find amazing that a movie like that couldn't even break the top 10. Anyways, what's it up against?

Wait -- The Globes are THIS Sunday!? Why did I think they were next week? The premiere of 24 is this Sunday as well. That's not very good scheduling. Man!

re: Producers Movie- No Change at the Globes

What is upsetting is that the movie HOSTEL which opened last week to terrible reviews -outright pans! 0 stars in one local paper - was the biggest hit last weekend opening with $20 million. I'm not saying that PRODUCERS deserved that but, come n people. There were other choices to see.

Interesting sidelight: A multiplex in Salt lake City refused to allow BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN but is happily playing HOSTEL.

There is something wrong with the "family values" mentality!

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

re: Producers Movie- No Change at the Globes

OK, The Globes are this Monday, believe it or not. For the first time, they'll be on a Monday night, because Monday night football is changing to Sunday night football this year.

This still coincides with the 24 Premiere. Grr.

"Walk the Line" will take the Musical/Comedy award, and Joaquin Phoenix will win Actor in a Musical/Comedy.

However, The Producers is not the only reason to watch the Globes. They're just a fun show. Nathan Lane called it the "bachelor party" (with the Oscars being the wedding).

How can a musical be too showtuney?

Yeah, that's like saying a drama is too dramatic.
