A friend and I are going to be in NYC in August, and these are the two shows we have it narrowed down to (mainly due simply to the fact of who is in Promises and he loves the movie "the birdcage")
So, which is better... and is LA Cage very similar to the birdcage?
(ps... my vote is for Promises because I'm not familiar with it at all, and love seeing shows I know nothing about... and Katie Finneran was on Wonderfalls, which was one of my favorite shows of all time.)
Thanks!
Oh God LA CAGE is way superior to PROMISES. And yes its very similar to THE BIRDCAGE.
La Cage - Douglas Hodge gives an amazing performance.
La Cage. No question, get your tix!
La Cage. It's extremely similar to Birdcage, but Hodge's performance is spectacular.
La Cage. While it is similar to The Birdcage, the entertainment value is superior to that in Promises. It may be due to the fact that I just plain don't like the book to Promises Promises.

I have to say La Cage, I was kinda disappointed by Promises.

If you're a Katie Finneran fan, see PROMISES, PROMISES.
LA CAGE for sure. If only to see Douglas Hodge. I mean, the production is strong overall, but Hodge is the reason to see it.
I like your "let's do something unfamiliar to us" attitude. So, I say see Promises. While La Cage is a perfectly wonderful production, it will be nothing new to you.
