Anyone get to see the protesting going on at the opening to All My Sons? (There's a link to a video of the protestors at the bottom of this post) Is what they say true and if so why does Katie Holmes follow it? Was the opening a good place to protest?

I dont understand the pink-hair lady. Shes protesting Scientology, and yet she complains that you cannot get a scientology bible in every hotel room? I want her wig.

Yeah, she didn't express it very well, and it doesn't entirely make sense, but I *think* she was referring to the Bibles (she specifically said King James Version) placed in hotel rooms by Gideons International as opposed to Scientology taking people's money. Or something. At least I think that's what she was saying.
I think what she meant was that a King James bible is free and available for anyone who might want to read it. In other words Christians freely give informatin about their religion to others out of the hope that it might help someone rather than the Scientologist method of using thier "holy book" if you will, to make a profit.

They should be protesting Simon McBurney, not L. Ron Hubbard.

Well you got to give it them they wanted publicity and thats def what they got lol...see all those cameras in that video!
As a veteran of many protests, I can tell that she was not prepared with her soundbites. Bad spokesperson!

My goodness, let the woman enjoy her first opening night on Broadway! Horrible, freedom of speech, fine, but to ruin such a special night in someone's life is just cruel.
Pink Hair Lady: if Katie Holmes promotes Scientology just by walking on the street and working, would you rather her not make a living at all by doing what she likes, performing!?!
I personally have no say in this issue, mainly because I know nothing about Scientology and have no need to.
Even if I was totally against Scientology I would never do something to ruin something so special in someone's life. Ruing her Broadway debut, you should all be ashamed!
Well, I would hope she wouldn't let something so stupid ruin her Broadway debut. I don't agree with scientology, but there are better ways to go about it.
If you knew anything about Scientology, you might have a different opinion. Aren't you British? If so, her husband intentionally prevented you from learning about it.

No, I live in New York. I choose not to know anything because it is not doing anything to harm me.

You should do some research, then. Scientology is dangerous.
Watch this.

THEN you will care about Scientology. Sure they are the butt of jokes but these people are seriously dangerous.

How is it going to harm me if I make it my business to have nothing to do with it?

That last line is a popular phrase that normally is mostpopular right before people start to lose their rights and freedoms...

Fine let me re-phrase it. Are Scientologists suddenly going to take over the country and do something to harm me?

Scientologists probably won't take over the country...the point is that ignorance isnt bliss...its just ignorance

It's still not harming me in anyway.
"Scientologists probably won't take over the country..."
I was being sarcastic, the fact that you took me seriously... you know what? I have nothing to write.

Scarywarhol: Scientology isn't a religion. It's a cult that blackmailed the IRS into giving it tax-exempt status.
Also, most major religions didn't have their major religious figure say that the best way to make money was to invent a religion and invented lovely policies like Fair Game, Operation Snow White, and Operation Freakout.
Didn't L. Ron Hubbard set up Scientolgy in the 1950's to win a bet about how gullible the public are? I guess he won the bet.
I agree with NGD and SporkGoddess when it comes to scientology, but at the same time, I don't really think this show is a good place to protest. I understand that they're looking for attention, but it's not like Holmes is out there proselytizing.
Has Katie ever come out & say that she is a Scientoligist because I don't think she has.

She hasn't these people are saying that the fact that she is being seen in public and is making a living by acting is promoting Scientology.
