Sir Paul saw Girl from North Country tonight. He seemed to enjoy it.

Any chance the Public could be trying to work with him?

Why would one indicate the other?

He was at the same performance of Great Comet as me last year, probably he is just a theatre fan!

Worth mentioning that he saw Hamilton while it was at the Public as well. Like Valyitz said - he's likely just a fan, and he knows the Public does good work.

He's been interested in theater his entire life. He saw Oklahoma! and West Side Story on tour as a kid, was influential in hiring playwright Joe Orton to write the semi-mythical "third Beatles film" Up Against It, and refers to the West End production of Hair with some degree of familiarity in conversation captured in the Let It Be film, and it's recorded in more than one Beatles bio that he tried to interest (a more reluctant) John Lennon in this type of entertainment as well.

Lennon/McCartney even mooted writing a musical together at one point in the mid-Sixties, though it never went beyond an initial idea (and a premature announcement by Brian Epstein when he took over the Saville Theatre that the show might be presented there). The working title was Pilchard and it was about "a bloke who thought he was God" (who, it was hinted, maybe was the genuine article returned to earth) who lived in urban slums but never actually appeared onstage, mainly experienced through the reactions of his family and outsiders, sort of Life of Brian meets Waiting for Godot. I kind of wonder how that would have worked out.

McCartney is probably just a fan like others have mentioned. I am a big fan of his and while he has written classical music and music for a ballet, he has never really seemed to be that into possible writing for a musical. He has recently released a new album (Egypt Station) which entered the charts at #1 and has another toured lined up for end of this year and into 2019. At his age, I don't see him writing for a Broadway show with everything else he is doing.

I'm surprised Sir Paul didn't catch Girl in London. But I guess he spends time here also.

I was hoping that McCartney would try to persuade James Corden to return to the theater.  They spent all that time in the car together! LOL
