I know most shows don't tour with all the gizmos, pizzaz, flash and glitz of Broadway. SO, what's differant between Bway/Chicago Wicked & the tour? (To me Chicago & Bway were pretty close)
the tour lacked a lot of energy (the ensemble seemed very bored when I went during the opening numbers of each act) and all the sets, though they have most of them, are much smaller.
The tour was ok. I saw the show the day after Stephanie Blocks birthday (In Denver). She lacked energy. She just seemed to walk through her part. Something was missing with the set pieces that were missing. Also, some of the blocking was different. I enjoyed the Broadway production more. Saw it with the original cast.
i saw the tour twice and it was GREAT. one day was better than the other day, though...but plenty of energy...i saw it with julia as elphie and sebastian as fieyro and a new morrible...so that may be why the energy is there.
um how is this even a question...the tour has JULIA MURNEY!!! think about it :) lol jk but Julia Murney makes the tour worth it
I've seen the tour with Steph, Chicago with Kristy and Bway with Eden, and even though there's not as much spectacle in the tour, I have to say that I enjoyed the tour the most. When I saw it (back in July 05), it had much more energy and life to it than when I saw it in Chicago and on Broadway.
the main difference is the roll on balconies instead of using the boxes (frankly in philly they could have gotten away with using them although they were not themed)
I've seen them all. Bway, Tour, Chicago.
And all the people in all the roles, except Julia Murney.

Well, the tour has Julia, So, therefore, it wins.
I saw the tour twice and I loved it. I saw the Chicago production and I thought it was ok. I didn't think it was as good as the tour. I've never seen it on broadway, so in my eyes the tour wins!

Well, the tour DOESN'T have Derrick anymore, so IMO that's a good thing. I really didn't like his Fiyero.
Oh, and I agree with everyone else. It has Julia!

I'm pretty sure that the Ny wicked the monkeys were on the celing/over audience. In Chicago they didnt have that.

off-topic but... where do I send fanmail to Julia Murney?
I heard you send it to the theatre it's playing at, but if they don't get it before they leave do they pass it on to the next stop?
ive seen bway wicked twice, and i saw the tour on jay leno, and have to say that i felt like they werent really into it. also i saw steph perform in bryant park over the summer and again, thought that she had the voice, but not the enthusiasm. just my opinion. Eden is in the role on bway right now, and shes fantastic. the first time i saw wicked, she stepped in for idina halfway through the show and blew us away.
JustChillin, I doubt they'd pass it on. I'd just send it there so maybe it arrives a little early just in case.

Anyone know the address of the current Boston stop? I don't have an updated version of flash so I can't get to their website.
Well, I saw the original chicago cast, original tour cast (both several times), and early 2005's NYC cast.
Nyc was def. lacking, and I didn't enjoy the show. Then I saw the tour, and it was the most amazing thing EVER. The leads seem to be the best in the original tour. Chicago seems to have the best ensemble though. They have a LOT of energy, and a great blend.
I'll be able to tell you about the NEW chicago cast later, but for now I haven't seen it.
Doing a tour seems overly exhausting no matter what show. Traveling from place to place, doing 8 shows a week in a place not home and transfering to a new place is very tiring.
However I always find the New York casts to be a lot better than the touring casts.
And I enjoyed the Broadway production better than the tour in Boston.

Anyone know if Wicked in ATL has a lotto and if so, how does it work? I might drive over there one of the "off" days like a Wednesday or something, since most kids will probably be in school still.
saw the tour 5 times...4/5 i got julia/kendra and once i got victoria madlock/kendra...victorias pretty good but JULIA MURNEY...she kicks every elphabas ass...no doubt
i love her
