#3re: Question about BROADWAY ON BROADWAY
Posted: 9/7/06 at 2:22pmHow crowded does Times Square get for this? If my friend and I have 1:30pm tix to La Boheme, would it be possible to be in Times Square and watch an hour or so of Broadway on Broadway, and then head up to Lincoln Center? Or, is it going to be like being in Times Square around New Year's, where once you are there you're pretty much stuck in the crowd of people until the end? :)

Posted: 9/7/06 at 10:06pmLast year, I was stuck in there until the end. If I wanted to leave early, I wouldn't have been able to without bothering many many people. I guess it depends on where you stand though...

Posted: 9/7/06 at 10:08pmI've been there a couple of years. It does gather a crowd, but it is nothing like the New Year celebration. Just stay near the side and head out when you need to. You may need to say excuse me a couple of times, but walk uptown and catch the 1 train at 50th st. and you'll have plenty of time. Enjoy!!!
#9re: Question about BROADWAY ON BROADWAY
Posted: 9/7/06 at 10:10pmThey DO close the streets though... beware... dazed and confused tourists and foreigners clog the area, not to mention the flocking broadway lovers. Congestion, congestion!

Thanks guys.
My friend and I are getting up early to get student rush tickets on Sunday for Jersey Boys. It will be our second time seeing it.
I'm hoping to catch Broadway on Broadway too.

Posted: 9/7/06 at 10:24pmi remember them saying last year that there were like 25000 people there. you could see people as far as the eye could see. We got in line for the show around 7:30 in the morning and it was already around the block.

Lori2 - you'll be far away for Bway on Bway, then, I'm guessing.
Box Offices don't open on sundays until 12 noon, and Bway on bway starts at 11:30.
=( Good luck!
#13re: Question about BROADWAY ON BROADWAY
Posted: 9/7/06 at 10:42pmI got there right when it started last year, and was at 46th street. I could see people crowded for blocks behind me.

Posted: 9/8/06 at 9:47amThanks for the info everyone! Closed down all the way up to 50th? That's a pretty big crowd! But it sounds like we could still see part of it and be able to get to Lincoln Ctr on time, which would be cool. I will be sure to stay near the edges of the crowd if we do decide to go. :)

Anakela- My aunt is also going to the Opera at Lincoln Center.
I'm gonna be at Broadway on Broadway then wander the Times Square/Theatre District area till the Opera ends.
Any idea what time that opera will end?

It is kinda sad that they will perform "Single" from TWS, which is probably the worst song of the show.

Posted: 9/8/06 at 2:10pmI really think the only reason TWS is doing Single is because of Constantine since his character is the main person in the song. I think it's a horrible choice but I'm sure they are thinking about people knowing about Constantine and then buying tickets.
#21re: Question about BROADWAY ON BROADWAY
Posted: 9/8/06 at 2:13pm"Single" is a horrible choice...I *always* skip over that song while listening to the cast recording. They should have done "It's Your Wedding Day."
