I am purchasing a ticket to see "Trip to Bountiful" for my upcoming trip to NYC. I typically like to sit as close to the stage as possible, but I know that in some theatres, front row seating is not the best. In December, I sat in the front row at the Cort Theatre for "Grace" and the stage was so high, I literally couldn't see everything. When the actors were laying on the stage after the shooting scene, I could not see them and I am 5'11.
Does anyone know if the stage at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre is so high that a front row seat would not be good? I am actually looking at a ticket in the front row of the side orchestra section, not center orchestra.
Any insight would be much appreciated.

Just saw this the other day and sat 2nd row front right orch. The people in the first row had to sink in their chairs to be comfortable and even from the second row, it was still too close. I had a slight neckache from looking up and so did the person beside me. I would definitely go with the 4th or even the 5th row to be more comfortable and to get a bigger view of the set/stage. I was the 3rd seat in from the right aisle and couldn't see the actors from the knees down when they were at the foot of the bed because I was too close. Not a big deal but further back would have been much better to see everything.
I saw Bountiful with a TDF ticket and was in the last row of the orchestra, but was in the center. I was surprised that it was a very good seat. If you really do prefer seating close, I think a few rows back is usually a better choice than 1st or 2nd row - unless you are off-Broadway. That's just me.
