I just don't understand how Blanchard has no artistic outlet. As an actor, one would think that he is looking for more in his work.

I saw John last Saturday night, and while I enjoyed the show 8 years ago, it really has gone down the drain. However, I came back to see John and was thrilled at what he did with the role. It was wonderful seeing him again on a Broadway stage, and his accent was spot on. Overall, the show was pretty hard to stomach the second time around, the tourists are a bit overwhelming at this show, but if you can get discount tickets, it's worth it to see John!
"It's the smile you smile that counts, happy thoughts in large amounts, any problem you can trounce, you can bounce right back."--Donald O'Connor
It's a shame to hear that about such a huge show. I'm a firm believer that no one should be a lead in a Broadway show for more than a year at a time without some sort of re-evalutation as to their continued value to the production.
Some people can keep a part fresh and exciting and intresting for long periods of time, and some just cant. Plus, when you get a cast full of a lot of old people, the show just gets old. It's good to clean house every once in a while, just to keep everything flowing.
I think I've asked this before, but does BATB sell standing room tickets ONLY if the show is completely sold out? I would like to stand for a Saturday matinee in December and figure that tons of tourists will want to see Osmond.
Has anyone recently bought standing room tickets for BATB?
Given the fact that the condition of the show isn't too great, I'd rather not pay more than $26.25. I would just like to see Osmond and Tartaglia in their respective roles. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to stomach another one of Steve Blanchard's walk-through performances in the process...

(sorry if this posts twice, my laptop is having one of those days, grr!)
SRO is available, I believe, only when the show is sold out, yes. Make sure you ask for it at the box office or else all you'll get is a "Sorry, this show's sold out." If you're over 5'4" to see over the little wall in the back of the orchestra and don't mind standing for 2 and a half hours, it's not too bad a deal. Nice view all things considered, don't miss a thing. Just bring comfy shoes. =)

John was fantastic! And very nice at the stage door, not like the jerk Donny Osmond who signed two or three playbills at the most. the was surronded by (I assume body guards) who kept him moving and said he had to go. In my opinion if you aren't going to stop and be respectful for the people who just paid to see you, then you should exit out a different door and not just walk past your fans.
Back to John, I loved him as Lumiere. I never really has interest in BatB, but went to see John. And wow it must be difficult to keep your hand up like that. I dont know about "missed jokes", he seemed to be dead on. at the stage door, he stopped for pictures, signed playbills, and was not in any rush to get away from fans. He acted must more professionally than Mr. Osmond.
Regarding Blanchard, I liked him. And he's kinda hot, he came out the stage door in an very tight t-shirt.

When I saw it Donny was more than nice at the stagedoor! He stayed there and signed EVERYONE'S playbill and talked to them even gave some of them hugs. He must have been in a hurry that day.
Glad to hear John is doing well! And I don't see why everyone is impressed at how long he keeps his arms up. He was a puppeteer waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy before he was a broadway star and dose anyone NOT remember the 2 winter coats he wore on his arms in Avenue Q?

There were so many people screaming for Donny Osmond at the stage door, and when the body guards dragged him away... it seemed like 75% of the people left. John walked out about two minutes later, and couldnt have been any nicer. I congratulated him on Johnny and the Sprites and he and the people with him (parents?) couldnt have been more appreciative.
He was fantastic in the show... I thought it was a pretty solid cast. Belle was great, too bad she is leaving on Tuesday.
It took Donny like an hour and a half to come out....

Radioactiveduck, your comment about "old people in a show makes the show old" is the most ridiculous insulting thing I've read in a long time. You wanna see B&B with kids, go see a HS production.
Well I'm glad to hear that John is doing really well in the show, and it sounds like he continues to get better. And yeah, he must have a LOT of experience with holding things up for long periods of time. But actually I remember reading something with Gary Beach, and he said that each of the candlesticks used to weigh about the size of an enormous ham, but now they are considerably less heavy due to technology and stuff.
A little off-topic, who is replacing Sarah Uriarte Berry?
I saw the show this weekend. John Tartaglia was adorable. He was wonderful afterward and obviously loves kids. Seems like a lovely guy. I hope "Johnny and the Sprites" does well in its expanded version. Slightly OT but Sarah Uriarte Berry also could not have been nicer, and sounded and looked beautiful. Steve Blanchard has done 3,000 performances - he has to be bored. He has some serious tattoos.

According to John, it starts January 13th. I cannot wait!
When I saw BatB on Saturday Steve snuck out of the front door... I guess nobody noticed him without his beast costume. There was a girl standing next to me who had worked with him and wanted to talk to him, so the lady who played Mrs. Potts took down a note and said she would give it to him.
Go to the games and play the tag game and you can hear 2 new songs.
Hopefully if they get big enough they'll set out a soundtrack!
