Hey all - Just found out I'm going to be in the city tomorrow night and doing some research, just found out about student rush. I know....behind the curve, but never bought tickets at the last minute before. 2 questions....

What time does the box office open for Race and what are the chances of getting tickets?

And, I am in my forties but am a grad student. Is there an age requirement also? Will they give me a hard time? I do have a student ID.

Thanks for putting up with this newbie. Like I said, I've never bought tickets at the last minute. I see a couple or three shows a year and have always bought them before hand.

Rush for Race starts at 2 hours before curtain, and when I went it was pretty empty I got there at 5:45 for an 8:00 show and was first.

I would stop by the BO (which opens at 10 M-Sat and 12 on Sunday) and check if they would take your ID or not, that I can't help you with.

Enjoy the show!

As long as you have a valid ID, it shouldn't be a problem. And the people at that box office are really nice.

Some shows restrict rush based on age, college-only, etc., but RACE isn't one of those, as far as I know. As long as it's a school ID, you should be fine.

Thanks all for you help....I appreciate it.

Printed out my registration status to go along with the id. ID doesn't have a date on it and it could be 20 years old for all they know. Hopefully there will be no problems.

On my way out the door. Mamet is one of my favorites and looking very forward to this.

Here is some closure for those who find this thread in a search.

Showed up at 4:30 - first in line. Next person showed up two minutes after me. Right at 5pm I purchased a box seat for $26.50 - what a great price!

Play was excellent. What a great performance.

Thanks again for everyone's help.

Does anyone know where the seats are located?

Mine were in a box. The view was fine, though, considering that about 97% of the show is played downstage center. The night I went, all of the students were in the boxes.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Are the student rush seats still in the boxes?

They were when I went in previews, but it seems people have been saying they've offered the front row as of late.

Anyone have a confirmation of either?

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

When I got those front row seats, my friend asked the guy at the box office if they were always there, and he said no - his tone seemed to indicate that it was a fluke, but if they're using them for rush, they'd have to be holding the front row on those days unless we just lucked out and they happened to have some unsold front row seats. This was the week between Christmas and New Years, for what it's worth.
