He's been touring with the U.S. and other productions of Les Miserables! He's an amazing actor. I hope he's in the revival of Les Miserables at some point of the run! DO YOU???? Thanks!

Posted: 7/18/06 at 2:14pmI think he's amazingly overrated as Valjean and as a performer. Hopefully, he stays far away from the revival.

I have seen Randal twice as Valjean, and I thought he is great in the role. No, Randal is not going to be in the revival, but he has been with the show a long time, nine years with either the tour or Broadway. Here is a link to the Broadway revival cast list:

Randal is great in the role of Valjean, no doubt
I enjoyed him each time I saw him.
But my hope is that Craig Schulman gets to take over as Valjean if/when they have a cast change.

Posted: 7/18/06 at 4:21pmHe is a great performer but Im glad to see a new cast. I also doubt there will be a cast change because its only a 6th month engagment.

Randall, J Mark McVey and Craig Schulman are all wonderful Valjeans. I'm still not convinced this will extending beyond 6 mos. It's hard to say what will take place since it's not even opened.
Quite honestly, I don't see the need to extend. Let them start up the tour again. Free up the theater for new works. Just my opinion.
I did not get to see Craig as phantom, though he reminds me that I should have! It was before we worked together. I will try to find some reviews though.

It would have counted as a revival anyway, and the show certainly doesn't have the Tony yet. Broadway will see quite a few revivals next season, including A CHORUS LINE and COMPANY.

Posted: 7/19/06 at 12:07amRandal's a great guy, and the best Valjean I've ever seen (and I've seen Colm Wilkinson), but I wouldn't be disappointed if he's not in the revival. Counting all the time he played Brujon, he was with the tour for nine years. I hope something just as good and well-suited for him comes along that's NOT Les Miz.

The man gave me goosebumps when I saw him a couple weeks ago.
Possibly the most incredible voice I've ever heard.

Posted: 7/19/06 at 1:55amHe was in Les Mis the first and only time I saw it exactly a month before the day it closed. It was my first broadway show and I had always had this strange fascination to see the show. So one day, my dad got me tickets and we went and from what I remember, he was outstanding. Very impressed and a good first for me to see. I hope he gets work outside Les Mis cause I know he has been with that for quite a while now.

Won't Les Miz also be? Or am I wrong?

I completely agree, Colle . . . Randal is one of the most incredible singing actors out there. I'm sure we'll be seeing him in something big in the not-too-distant future!

Posted: 7/19/06 at 9:40pmI have seen Randal as Valjean a number of times and think it is a total shame he was not cast in the Broadway revival. Randal not only has a voice that can make the hair on the back of your neck stand on end, he is a very good actor. Additionally, I have observed him graciously greeting fans at the stage door and would say he is as giving a human being off stage as he is a giving actor on stage. I do believe however that true talent cannot be denied and I have absolutely no doubt that great things are ahead for Randal. He has too much talent for it not to find another outlet. Les Miz's loss will be another show's gain ...
