Posted: 8/15/04 at 12:38pmI have a question Re: RENT. Does it have a closing date yet? Or are any new cast members expected to arrive? Because I really want to see it but I havent heard many good things about the cast, so I'm holding out...but I dont want to wait so long that it closes before I can go.

Why does Mel B. only do evening performances?
~2day4u9704301-your icon looks a lot like Jim from the tv show "Camp Jim" on MTV.

Well I thought Jon was kidding because of the sudden infusion of exboybanders into Broadway theater (Joey Fatone, Joey McIntyre...) We had Kevin Richardson representing from BSB, someone from 98* just HAD to come eventually! lol
I remember all of 98* having very nice voices, and Drew can be very funny on Newlyweds...so, I'd like to see him on Broadway.

Yeah, I'm interested to see his take on the role, and plus I need to see it again so I can get the image of Mel B out of my head...LOL
You caught me WiCkEd4LyFfE...It's me, Jim in disguise. LOL jk..I might have to check this show out now, see if he really does look like me.....

Drew practically OWNS Newylweds.
Though I've heard through the grapevine that things with his contract may not work out, so we shall see soon shortly if he sticks on the scarf and sweater or not.

No offense to any of you kids...But you really shouldn't support the arrival of pop music Icons taking over roles in broadway musicals. the reasons are simple:
1) The more a dying show is prolonged by shameful selling out, The less space there is for new composers, or franlkly BETTER composers to show case their work (which could very well be YOUR new favorite musical)
2) Those 'Icons' are taking roles away from individuals who are trying to make it on broadway. I know it sounds pety, but think about it hard. Instead of auditioning hundreds of young hopefuls, they are taking the easy way out by bringing someone in who has star power, just so they can make some extra cash.
Just some thoughts.

Because her voice is shot and matinees will make it worse, if that's even possible at this point. And it's a crime to keep Karmine Alers and Dominque Roy locked up in the swing room.
Bogey, it's a well-known fact that Rent is hanging on by the threads of stunt casting. I have mixed feelings about it myself.

Anyone know who's taking over for scary? Please let it be Karmine.....
Side note, as I was reading this thread, someone was definitely blasting Wannebe on the street.

Krystal Washington's coming back; she was Mimi right before Scary. Karmine is playing Aida regionally for a bit, I'm not sure of the dates.

That's not too bad....she was decent, and anyone is better than Scary.
If you can find out the dates and location of Karmine playing Aida, I'll love you forever. :-P

I might just have to see RENT if Drew Lachey is in it. I mean, I hate the notion of pop stars taking over Broadway (except for Joey McIntyre, who is actually pretty talented and the nicest guy ever), but Drew is hilarious on Newlyweds. I live for his little cameos on that show. He OWNED the camping episode.
However, I still refuse to see Joey Fatone in anything so I don't think I've gone overboard.

I believe Karmine's in Aida in Missouri (or is it Michigan) for two weeks. She already left the Rent cast for rehearsals last weekend, which is making me think that it's the last week of August and first week of September.
What I wouldn't give to hear that woman sing "Gods Love Nubia". Good lord.

Posted: 8/15/04 at 5:05pmTo a degree I agree with bogey! it's sad to see that all of these actors out here looking for a break can't get one because these pop stars can't sell an album so they turn to B'way to boost a shows ticket sales. I will not see Wicked again until the boybander is outta there! (And the show doesn't even need him!) I am just cringing waiting for the casting announcement of the "RENT" movie. There are very few recording artists that can handle 8 shows a week. Just my opinion!
