My guess is Sundance, since that is where Stew et al. have been developing a separate film and where I think PS was worked on as well.

I got this e-mail from Sony today, so it looks like the DVD is a go again at this point:

"Just following up on your email from earlier this month. Yes, RENT will be released on DVD and the current plan is to make the title available early next year. We are very proud of the production and appreciate your support."

I'll post again, if I can find out any more specifics :)

I'm really excited for it to be released! I was interviewed, and then taped singing Seasons of Love, so I think I'll be on the documentary part or whatever it is :)

Update: It'll be released sometime between January and March, according to Sony:

"It will likely be released in the first quarter of 09, although that is the tentative plan as of now."

Here's something more concrete: According to http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-talk/543235-rent-recent-sony-hot-ticket-broadway-recording.html#post9059344 it will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on February 3. The official announcement from Sony will be November 24.

GGAAHH! Exciting! I'm so glad the Rent-ers fixed the impression they left with us fans. Not that the movie was terrible.. but the staged version was perfect!

I can't wait for it!

I can't wait. I was not able to see this in the theater so I am looking forward to buying this.
