I have gone to see films because of actors and I HATE when they only have small roles. I guess if they bill by name recognition, screen time or alphabetically it doesn't matter. Rosario tops all of those.

I'd think Roger or Mark had bigger parts than Mimi, so if the "big parts" theory were true, Anthony and Adam would at least be up there instead of Taye.

I've moved on from the whole hierarchy. I was annoyed by it a few months ago, but things like top billing should only be important to their agents.

The truth is that to movie seeing public Rosario and Taye are the only recognizable names. So when Joe Schmo and his girlfriend are standing at the poster outside a cineplex trying to decide what to watch, she says hey Rent is supposed to be good, and look hun it has Rosario Dawson in it, and he says who's that and then she tells him that she was the assassin stripper in Sin City and the naked chick in Alexander. Then he says cool and the whole time the girlfriend is thinking "I hope Taye looks as good as he did in How Stella Got Her Groove Back." And that's what makes them go see Rent instead of Spiderman 7.

It truly has nothing to do with how big the roles are and nobody thinks that America's going to flock to the theatre as if Rosario is Julia Roberts, but outside of the broadway world Rosario and Taye are the most recognizable names.

Of course the average movie-goer is going to look at the poster and say: "Hey look let's go see RENT, Rosario Dawson is in it. Y'know the girl from ALEXANDER and SIN CITY" as opposed to: "Hey hun, let's go see RENT, Idina Menzel is in it" Which will only illicit the response: "Who the hell is Idina Menzel"?
