RENT and Wicked ad in EW (again)- PIC ADDED

There's an uber small review of the Rent trailer (the first one), the basically said something like "show them the cast, give them a song, and hope their happy. We are" and they gave it a B+. There's also a full page ad for Wicked which was (I believe) was in EW a few months back. Or maybe it was People. I'm not sure. It's a full page ad with the 'whispering' logo and the 'So Much Happened...' tagline above and the TIME magazine quote "If every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place". It also has a very small tour schedule on the bottom. Just thought I'd let everyone know RENT and Wicked ad in EW (again)- PIC ADDED

A very, very small photo of Rosario in the pink Cat Scratch Club outfit. If you really want to buy it for that, go ahead, but IMO, it's not worth it. It's like two sentences.

Heh. I have that Wicked ad taped to my wall, among many other things. But the RENT trailer thing....if it's not too small, I'll tape that up there too.

and some other people

the four biggest stars of the film in ABC order. Then again, you cant blame them for giving Rosario top billing. She will bring in a lot of business.

at first i was like "hey..it deserves an A" and then i remembered that it was picky, superficial EW

Do people actually go see a movie because Rosario Dawson is in it? I don't know anyone who does but I guess there must be people out there who do.

On Moviefone they give Rosario top billing followed by Adam Pascal. I guess the "official" billing is Rosario, Taye, Jesse, Idina, Adam, Anthony, Wilson then Tracie. Everyone else seems to list alphabetically. I would think more people would go see it specifically for Taye than Rosario, but that may just be me. Well, and his part is significantly smaller.

-I certainly hope so, 'cause that second trailer (the one with No Day But Today) makes the movie look like a BALL OF CHEESE.


And Rosario is also top billing because she's MIMI, I think one of the bigger characters of the show.

Yeah, i never understood that. I dont think i've ever gone to see a movie becuase some actor or actress was in it. I would think the name RENT itself would be more of a name then the cast, like Phantom - but then again we see what happened to Phantom.

Probably. I went to see Bewitched because Kristin Chenoweth was in it, Road Trip and A Beautiful Mind because Anthony Rapp was in them, and Wild Things becasue Daphne Rubin-Vega was in it. So yeah, I'm sure that Rosario Dawson will bring in some people, but she is Mimi, and so I'm not going to complain about her "starring" in it, but Taye Diggs? I always thought of Benny as being the smallest of those eight roles. But whatever fills up seats I guess.

By the way, I don't know if anyone has posted this or not, but the extra song they've recorded is Jonathon Larson's "Love Heals" (it's on Sherie Rene Scott's solo CD; it's a great song).

It's not about the size of the part with Taye. It's about the NAME. They don't have big star power, so they're going to use what they can.

I have gone to see films because of actors and I HATE when they only have small roles. I guess if they bill by name recognition, screen time or alphabetically it doesn't matter. Rosario tops all of those.
