RENT continuity question???

After Maureen calls Mark to help her with the equipment, he leaves.
But when Angel and Tom arrive for "Today 4 U" Mark is mysteriously home again and "Tango Maureen" doesn't happen until after.
I've seen the show 3 times and this really bugs me each time. It seems, the way it stands now that Mark just leaves so that Roger and Mimi can meet.
Can anyone shed some light on this?? Did something get cut along the way?
Thx in advance.

Maybe he had to pee.
Maybe he had something to do before helping Joanne (well, Maureen).
Or maybe this is why people say Rent's book is pretty....well....there.

cept for the part where he hands roger his coat and says get out of the house and leaves...
all i can think of is this...
Mark says alright ill go, hands roger his coat and leaves... on his way walking down the street he runs into collins and angel and decides to run back to the apt with them....

Posted: 7/17/05 at 6:14amI think, he wants to go to Maureen and Joanne and on his way he meets Collins and Angel and goes with them back to his loft, because Collins wants to get home but has no key.

When Mark says "Where is he?" right before Collins says "gettin' dizzy!" I thought Mark was referring to Collins, and that he knew he was coming.
So, I just listened to the song, and Maureen calls after that - and I'd assume that Mark's "okay, alright, I'll go!" means he'll go, but later. I thought he just didn't leave right away, knowing he'd be having company that he hasn't seen in seven months.

Posted: 7/17/05 at 12:24pmI'm thinking it's one of the little flaws with the book of Rent. We can guess all we want, but...I think Larson just needed to get him out of the apartment somehow so Roger could sing "One Song Glory" and meet Mimi.

Posted: 7/17/05 at 1:23pmI always assumed that Mark had gone out looking for Collins and then he finds him and Angel and brings them back to the loft.

I always assumed that on his way to the lot he ran into Collins and Angel and returned back to the loft with them.
"except isn't he already back in the apt. before collins and angel show up? I mean he doesn't walk in with them if I remember the staging correctly."
I took that as Mark went in first to introduce them to Roger with the line "Enter Tom Collins, computer genious, teacher, vagabond anarchist who ran naked through the Parthanon..." I don't think Makr was actually there before him...does this make sense?

This is definately one of the book's flaws
Like most, I just assumed that he met Collins and Angel on his way to Maureen's
