525,600 minutes, 525,600 moments so dear 525,600 minutes how do you measure? Measure a year? The song Seasons of Love speaks to me on so many levels. It's one of the theme songs to my life. I have always been a fan of the musical for as long as I can remember, but never had the money to be able to go. Almost 525,600 minutes ago when I found out that RENT was coming to Houston I was excited, the thoughts of finally being able to see my favorite show meant the world. There I was weeks before saving my money so I could go down to the Hobby Center of the Performing Arts and wait in line for rush. Upon arrival I was nervous, why? I realized that this was a show that saved me a lot of struggles; it helped me to grow as a person and understand whom I really am. It helped me in more ways the one to start to overcome the death of my father who passed away in 1996 a week after my brother's 14th birthday. I had been carrying so many burdens in life that I was finally able to let go, give in, and live my life as if there was 'No Day But Today' The suspense of the show captures my heart each time I think of the meaning behind Jonathan Larson's message.
The cast was absolutely amazing from meeting them before the show, seeing them out on the stage, and getting a chance to meet them after it was as if I were dreaming. When taking a picture with Heinz Winkler, John Watson, and Miguel Jarquin-Moreland someone took a picture with me in their own photo. It felt special because I had never had my photograph taken with cast members for someone else's use. This musical means the world to me because of what it's taught. It teaches you about living your life, as there's no tomorrow, don't let the small things bother you and go out and live your life to the fullest. It helped me come to terms with myself, opened my eyes to an opportunity to change, to feel the drive for life. Gearing up into the next few weeks it will be back in Houston. I can't wait for the thrill of the musical, to be able to see John Watson and Jed Resnick again along with this wonderful cast. Forever RENT will be in my heart, as I know I am blessed with the opportunities that lie ahead.
Thank you Jonathan Larson! Forever you will be in my heart, the message, which you created, is something to hold onto for life lessons. Your works of art have inspired me to be fully committed in what I want, to see tomorrow, to not take it for granted, and to love my family and friends. To overcome obstacles that always seem to enter my life. Thank you for being a hero and though I never met you, you have inspired me to keep moving in life.
RENT opened my heart and mind; it allowed me to enjoy theatre even more. Because of RENT though I'm just now able to put my thoughts together for my poem listening to the music has given me the inspiration each day and I was finally able to write it. I actually wrote this past week realizing how much the music can change me, how the passion of theatre is an art and the cast mates no matter who they are have inspired me.
Theatre is a passion
Theatre is a passion
A passion of art
Which only I can express
From the heart
It’s where I want to be
I see it in my dreams
Upon on that stage
Theatre is a passion
A passion of art
Though it may take
Longer then I think
It’s a passion
That lives inside of me
Theatre is a passion
A passion of art
Nothing can stop
The love I have
Something so deep
So precious to me
Theatre is a passion
A passion of art
Waiting to be expressed
Through my heart
I hope that one-day
You will see
How much it means to me
Theatre is a passion
A passion of art
Which only I can express
From the heart
It’s where I want to be
I see it in my dreams
Upon that stage
So please let me
Continue the art
That speaks clearly to me
My life is in my hands
With this passion
Do you understand?

Posted: 4/17/09 at 4:45pmThis sounds more like a Rent orgasm than a review. And what's with "Rent: The Musical"? What else would it be, a monologue?

Why is your rude comment necessary? I was telling how much it meant to me.
Fosse - I know it's RENT and a musical I just didn't know how to give it a good title.

They are going to beat off to that picture. That's how Buffalo Bill found his victims.
