I mean, they ARE going to retire the character with Wallace's passing, so technically, RIP Edna K. is an apropos thread title.

I read a couple weeks ago that a regular character from the Simpson would die this season, and I assumed that's what this was referring to.

Krabappel will not die, but her character will be gradually faded out. The death, unless it is removed, will be a different character. Remember, they do have a wealth of Krabappel recordings, enough to at least finish the season if not to edit and explain why her character is disappearing.

The current showrunners have confirmed that Edna was not the character who was going to die this season. They will phase Edna out and pay tribute to Wallace.
