I think my heart just melted into a big, huge puddle on the floor. He's so articulate and sweet. Lots of cute little anecdotes, and some insight into what's going on with him and Potts. The more I read or see, the more respect I have for this guy.
Break a leg tonight, you.

I know! I loved what he said about Cabaret. As Aja pointed out, he *sounds* like a father now!
He's grown up!

God, I love that he says he talks to the car. I love his interviews because he comes off so well, and he speaks so beautifully that even in writing, it feels really genuine. I can picture him saying all of these things, and having that gorgeous smile on his face - truly happy, appreciative and driven.
And his quote about the critics -
That yay/nay quality is disappointing. "Two thumbs up" doesn't mean anything. That's not a critic's job. I don't think a critic goes into a theater just to find out if they like a show or not. They want to talk about a show and feel like they are part of the theater, at least the ones that are good.
Keeps smashing me over the head.
I think I'll read this interview a few more times. THEN maybe the reviews will be up. *bites nails*

"Part of me was really proud of him for watching Cabaret at eleven and another part of me was like, "This is so inappropriate!" But the movie doesn't hold a candle to how dirty the Broadway production was."
Heh, I was 8 when I saw the movie. And I'm still bummed that I've never gotten to see it on stage!
Raul just sounded so sweet and caring in the interview. I did think it was weird for him to be taking on this kind of "family friendly" role, but it just shows his range as an actor. Is it weird that I love this guy so much even though I've never seen him live?
Wanting life but never knowing how

I saw Chitty last Thursday and he was amazing. I really respect him and his work. I wish there was more of him in Act II.
I very much liked the whole show as well.

Posted: 4/28/05 at 7:36pmThat's definitely one of the best interviews I've read with him. He seems to really be addressing how "difficult" he's been in the past and becoming a changed man. I'm DYING to see that taboo documentary. The interviewer saw it--does ANYONE on here have it?

Posted: 4/28/05 at 7:38pmI think it was screened once in like... Brooklyn in the Fall. I was really curious to see it, but never got to. I've seen him singularly re-enact part of the "fight," which in retrospect was kind of funny, though.

Emcee - Was that in the Show Business Movie or are you referring to something else?

No, there used to be this adorable little video on the Tony website last year, where he talked about tech week, and storming out of rehearsal. He showed how he waved his arms about and such.

Posted: 4/29/05 at 2:39amThe whole thing sounds like it was pretty f*cked up, and it was totally blown out of proportion because of Reidel's need to sock Rosie; Raúl just got mixed up in that sh*t, which he didn't deserve one bit. But, in his defense, at least he can laugh about it now... or at least laugh at how seriously it all was taken. In the Tony video, he talks about how he went back to rehearsal that night, and the entire cast had done "interpretive drawings" of him storming out.

Posted: 4/29/05 at 8:01pmI know he has tough competition, but I really want him to get a Tony nom again
