Manoel was already committed to something in San Francisco. He left the production in DC and Jonathan Hammond played Tateh during the final week (the extension).

Over the next 3 weeks, Donna Migliaccio is playing Abby in "The Musical of Musicals: The Musical!" at the intimate MetroStage (Alexandria VA) before leaving to play Emma Goldman in "Ragtime".
I am looking forward to seeing Donna again in both roles.

Bohmer better stay with this production... he was one of my favorites.
Personally, I'd almost rather see a replacement playing Goldman, though. Donna Miggliaccio gave a great performance acting-wise and vocally, but her lisp distracted me so much! Sometimes it was barely there, sometimes it was so strong, it almost sounded fake.

Personally I don't care whether there's a 'name' or not involved in the cast. As long as they cast actors that will shine in the roles. I think its kind of sad that a show might live or die depending on whether or not they have someone famous in it.

Man, that has REALLY got to suck to play Sarah in a major regional production of Ragtime, only to be replaced when it is announced that the show is moving to Broadway. I can't imagine anything more devastating for an actor.

There was some reason she couldn't or chose not to transfer with the show. I forget what it was, but it's not like she was just "passed over."

Jennlee Shallow (Sarah in DC) is involved with a Cirque production in Las Vegas which is why she's not coming to Broadway. She was not passed over.
